Art within art[edit]

I was wondering if we have a list of named works of "art" within other works. Here are some examples from TV:

TV show "Art within art"
=========================  ================================================
Too Close for Comfort Cosmic Cow (Ted Knight's comic strip)
Home Improvement Tool Time (Tim's cable TV show)
Sex in the City Sex in the City (Carrie's newspaper column)

Most have different names from the main show, but not all. Also, as you can see, I've struggled to describe this concept, is there a general term for it ? StuRat 04:12, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See Story within a story, Show-within-a-show, List of fictitious films, and links from those. --Anonymous, May 11, 2007, 04:32 (UTC).
Thanks. I guess there's no better term than "art within art" for the general concept. StuRat 04:46, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd have to add The Simpsons & Itchy and Scratchy to your list. Aaadddaaammm 09:49, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and The Happy Little Elves. We even have a list of fictional characters within The Simpsons. StuRat 00:38, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually there's a word more specific to what you're describing, not story within a story or show within a show or something. Can't remember what I'm thinking of though. [Mac Δαvιs] ❖ 19:13, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What you're describing is a kind of metafiction. See the article and related linked article for more info. —Mitaphane ?|! 23:50, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, so that's the term. Thanks. StuRat 00:39, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gianna Michaels[edit]

Has the pornstar Gianna Michaels performed in any anal scenes —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.240.255.84 (talk) 12:03, 11 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

That is a very good question, which our Gianna Michaels article unfortunately does not answer. Looking at ther IMDb page [1] however, I find that she starred in such productions as Ass masterpiece Vol. 4, Interracial Anal Teens -n- Toys 3 and Evil Anal 4. Perhaps one of those films features the scene you are looking for. Skarioffszky 12:41, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

She hasn't done anal in these scenes.

Number of manga titles[edit]

About how many indigenous manga titles are there in Japan? I'm only looking for a rough estimate as its a very broad and unspecific question. I guess someone must have made some estimate other than an “insane number”, which is about the only answer I have found this far. Kess 13:00, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ever, or currently publishing? —Tamfang 21:48, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ever. Though I'm happy with an estimate for currently publishing as well. Kess 05:03, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that there's something in Frederik L. Schodt's "Dreamland Japan". I'll check when I get home tonight. Confusing Manifestation 01:51, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, there is no figure in here for the number of manga titles, probably because of the effort required to separate individual manga books (those with a single title, like Naruto) from the manga magazines (such as Shounen Jump). Not to mention the sheer size of the doujinshi market. However, to give you an idea of the figures that might be involved, here are some related ones: In 1996, stores in Japan sold a total of 586.4 billion yen worth of manga, making up 12.9% of all publication sales (ie. books, magazines, etc.), while in terms of volume there were 1.89 billion units of manga sold, making up 28.0% of all publications. In 1995, Comiket had over 60,000 sellers of doujinshi, some of whom would presumably be selling more than one title. In addition there were 265 manga magazines in publication in 1996. Let me know if you want Schodt's sources, or see if you can find an email address for him somewhere on his website to ask your question (if anyone knows, surely he would). 10 Things I Hate About You--Seattle Geography[edit]

The first shot of the movie 10 Things (Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles) is Seattle skyline. Looks like its from a park. Last night ABC News had Charlie Gibson standing there. Anyone know where in Seattle this is? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.213.99.62 (talk) 16:19, 11 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Never seen the film, and I'm not 100% sure about this, but I believe that would be Kerry Park. -- Azi Like a Fox 17:48, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
10 Things I Hate About You was set in Tacoma. Are you sure it's the Seattle skyline you're seeing? Corvus cornix 18:17, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

10 Things I Hate About You was filmed in various locations, mainly in Seattle. The park is Gasworks park on Lake Union in Seattle.

Elvis Presley Question[edit]

Before Elvis Presley became famous, WCKY played his demo recording of "You're a Heartbreaker". I remember the DJ saying we would be hearing a lot from this new singer in the future. Can I find out what year that was? Nobody believes me. They always say "You mean "Heartbreak Hotel". I have a copy of the demo recording that I purchased from Ebay. Thank you.76.98.131.11 21:56, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Carolyn C Sass[reply]

I can't speak directly to your question about WCKY, or specifically about a demo recording, but we have an article Elvis Presley's Sun recordings which indicates that the song was recorded in 1954, and this link says that the single was released on 8 January 1955. I hope this helps somewhat. -- LarryMac | Talk 01:05, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dresden Files TV show returning?[edit]

Dresden Files TV show returning? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.244.189.88 (talk) 23:01, 11 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

According to our article The Dresden Files (TV series), it's still undecided. I notice that we need to add some disambiguation to "Dresden Files" and will get to that soon, unless some other editor wants to jump on it more immediately. --LarryMac | Talk 00:55, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
