- Module:Map (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Module:Map/i18n (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Inherently redundant to Template:Maplink. Sole mainspace use duplicates a map already provided by the infobox. * Pppery * it has begun... 23:31, 15 January 2026 (UTC)

- Template:Reading List (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
No transclusions or incoming links from discussions to explain why it was created. Created in 2023. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:23, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
- I created it to use on my userpage. Ktkvtsh (talk) 17:46, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
- Saying that, I would also like to say that I stopped using it on my userpage yesterday. It can be deleted if need be. Ktkvtsh (talk) 17:50, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
- delete, if it is needed for one user's userpage, then it can be move to userspace. Frietjes (talk) 17:57, 15 January 2026 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was merge Template:Infobox ancient site to Template:Infobox historic site. voorts (talk/contributions) 23:36, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
- Template:Infobox ancient site (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:Infobox historic site (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Propose merging Template:Infobox ancient site with Template:Infobox historic site.
These two have a significant overlap (the former's documentation even says "This template is flexible enough to be used to provide a box containing an information summary for many historical and cultural locations..."
) and are long overdue for merging. The general benefits of merging are explained in Wikipedia:Infobox consolidation. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:17, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
- Don't merge: leaving aside the leading "long overdue for merging" I'm going to say that Machu Picchu, to name a site I haven't worked on, is Much different than say the first Dairy Queen in Ames Iowa. No archaeology for instance. Which is why a Historical Site doesn't have archeologists, excavations, periods, epochs, etc entries. Given that the numbers of uses involved, 14K and 6K, is a flyspeck in the grand wikipedia space I have to ask "Is this trip really necessary?" :-) Ploversegg (talk) 19:31, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
- Archaeology can apply to a historic site too. Traumnovelle (talk) 06:05, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
- We don't seem to have an article about the first Dairy Queen in Ames Iowa, but articles currently transcluding Infobox historic site include (to pick just three) Tower of London, Fountains Abbey, and Arundel Castle. All of those have archaeologists, excavations, periods, etc. As to "is the trip necessary", that is covered in Wikipedia:Infobox consolidation. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:22, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- Philosophically I don't see the win of having 1 larger infobox vs 2 smaller ones for the editors. Edit time is the true shortage commodity on Wikipedia. Simple is better. If this IS a win then why not use "infobox settlement" for everywhere. There is also a Lot of overlap just as people have argued for merging these two infoboxes. I propose merging all place infoboxes to "infobox settlement"!! :-) That all said I don't properly speaking care much about this as long as the transition is Seamless. If I end up having to spend my wiki editing time cleaning up after this then I expect to be using all your names in vain. Ploversegg (talk) 14:27, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
- I've never used the former, but I use the latter very frequently, it being my preferred IB for historic buildings. That said, I'm not against merging them, as long as all of the features of the latter are retained. KJP1 (talk) 09:10, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Versions111 (talk • contribs) 06:19, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- Support per KJP1 if all features are retained. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 20:40, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose per Ploversegg. I think historic and archeologic can have very different uses and nom has not explained why they should be merged. The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 21:50, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
- User:The Eloquent Peasant the second box is called {{Infobox ancient site}}, not {{Infobox archeologic site}}.... Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 06:42, 23 January 2026 (UTC)

- Support there is no clear distinction between these two and significant overlap. Should be easy to merge without damaging either one. I am indifferent on which becomes the redirect. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 05:53, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
- Support Unless if there's any distinction between the two, which doesn't seem as if there is, then it should be merged while keeping all of the features. UnilandofmaTalk 06:11, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
- Support per KJP1 as long as all features are retained. Ktkvtsh (talk) 18:59, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
