[edit]Desmond Daniel Amofah, better known as Etika, was an American YouTuber and live streamer from Brooklyn, New York. He became known for his enthusiastic reactions to Super Smash Bros. character trailers and Nintendo Direct presentations, garnering popularity from his reaction videos of news surrounding Super Smash Bros. 4. During the last months of his life, Amofah demonstrated erratic behavior and signs of mental distress. In this period, Amofah's YouTube channels were terminated due to him uploading pornography, as he had threatened to commit suicide on multiple occasions and was hospitalized several times. Reported missing on June 20, 2019, after posting an apologetic video, Amofah was confirmed dead on June 25 after his body was recovered from East River near the Manhattan Bridge, with officials concluding he committed suicide by drowning. His death received expressions of shock and grief online, with many observers remarking that the signs of his mental decline were either dismissed or ignored.
