The John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer is an award given annually to the best new writer whose first professional work of science fiction or fantasy was published within the two previous calendar years. The prize is named in honor of science fiction editor and writer John W. Campbell, whose science fiction writing and role as editor of Analog Science Fiction and Fact made him one of the most influential editors in the early history of science fiction. The nomination and selection process is administered by the World Science Fiction Society, represented by the current Worldcon committee, and the award is presented at the Hugo Award ceremony at the Worldcon, although it is not itself a Hugo Award. Over the 46 years the award has been active, 195 writers have been nominated. Of these, 47 authors have won, including one tie. American actress Sharon Stone has won 10 awards from 41 nominations, including one Emmy Award, one Golden Globe Award, and two MTV Movie Awards. Stone's breakout role as Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct (1992) earned her a Chicago Film Critics Association Award, Golden Globe Award, and Saturn Award nominations. This was followed by two nominations for MTV Movie Award for Most Desirable Female for the films Sliver (1993) and The Specialist (1994). For her role as Ginger McKenna in Casino (1995), Stone won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama and received her only Academy Award nomination for the same category. She guest-starred as an attorney who believes she can communicate with God in The Practice (1997–2004), a role that earned her the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. There are ten municipalities in Colima, a state in West Mexico. According to the 2015 Mexican Intercensal Survey, it is the state that has the smallest population with 711,235 inhabitants and is the fifth smallest by land area spanning 5,801.75 square kilometres (2,240.07 sq mi). Municipalities in Colima are administratively autonomous of the state according to the 115th article of the 1917 Constitution of Mexico. The legal framework for Colima's municipalities is provided by Title VII of the state Constitution and the 2001 Law of Free Municipalities in the State of Colima. Every three years, citizens elect a municipal president by a plurality voting system who heads a concurrently elected municipal council responsible for providing all the public services for their constituents. The largest municipality by population in Colima is Manzanillo (pictured), with 184,541 residents, and the smallest municipality is Ixtlahuacán with 5,527 residents. (Full list...)

Since its first competitive appearance, 105 players have represented Gold Coast Football Club in an Australian Football League (AFL) premiership match. The club was granted a licence to join the AFL as an expansion club in March 2009, and played its first match during the second round of the 2011 AFL season. In preparation for the club's entry into the league, Gold Coast was provided with a range of recruitment concessions by the AFL, including additional selections in the 2010 AFL draft, early access to recruit underaged players, and access to existing clubs' out-of-contract players in the preceding offseason. Gary Ablett Jr. (pictured) was the club's inaugural captain, a role he held until 2016. The maximum playing list size of each AFL club is 47 players, consisting of 38–40 senior-listed players and the remainder as rookie-listed players. As of the conclusion of the 2018 season, the player with the highest individual games tally for Gold Coast is Jarrod Harbrow, who has played 154 matches for the club since 2011. English musician Syd Barrett recorded 37 songs during his two-year solo career. One of the founding members of English rock band Pink Floyd, he was the dominant force in their early years, writing the majority of the material on their debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. As a result of Barrett's increasing mental illness, guitarist David Gilmour was hired as his possible replacement. When his condition worsened, he was officially excluded from Pink Floyd in April 1968. After his departure, Barrett recorded two solo albums, both released in 1970. Barrett returned to the studio in 1969 to begin work on his first solo album, The Madcap Laughs. His only single, "Octopus", was released in November 1969. Released in January 1970, the album received positive reviews from critics and enjoyed moderate commercial success, reaching number 40 in the UK charts. Two months later, Barrett began recording his second and final solo album, Barrett. Barrett was released in November 1970, but failed to chart; no singles were issued from the album. Predictions of apocalyptic events that would result in the extinction of humanity, a collapse of civilization, or the destruction of the planet have been made since at least the beginning of the Common Era. Most predictions are related to Abrahamic religions, often standing for or similar to the eschatological events described in their scriptures. Christian predictions typically refer to events like the Rapture, Great Tribulation, Last Judgment (artist's impression pictured), and the Second Coming of Jesus. End-time events are usually predicted to occur within the lifetime of the person making the prediction, and are usually made using the Bible, particularly the New Testament, as either the primary or exclusive source for the predictions. Often this takes the form of mathematical calculations, such as trying to calculate the point where it will have been 6000 years since the supposed creation of the Earth by the Abrahamic God, which according to the Talmud marks the deadline for the Messiah to appear. The industrial town of Widnes contains 22 buildings that are recorded in the National Heritage List for England as designated listed buildings. Of these, 5 are classified at Grade II*, and 17 at Grade II; Widnes has no Grade I listed buildings. In the United Kingdom, the term "listed building" refers to a building or other structure officially designated as being of special architectural, historical, or cultural significance. Before 1847, the area now occupied by the town of Widnes consisted of the hamlets of Farnworth, Cronton, Appleton, and Upton; a few scattered houses; and areas of mostly marshy farmland. In 1833 a canal and a railway reached the area; the Sankey Canal was extended to a point on the River Mersey to the east of Runcorn Gap and the St Helens and Runcorn Gap Railway established a terminus adjacent to the canal. The town's listed buildings reflect its history. The oldest, St Luke's Church in the former village of Farnworth, dates from the 12th century. Also built before 1847 are three houses, a bridewell adjacent to St Luke's Church, and the lock at the terminus of the Sankey Canal. (Full list...)

The Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series Directing Team is an award presented annually by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) and Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS). It was first awarded at the 1st Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony, held in 1974 when the award was originally called Outstanding Individual Director for a Drama Series. Therefore, between 1974 and 1978, the award only honored individual directors. In 1979, the award was renamed Outstanding Direction for a Drama Series before using its current title years later. Since then, the award has honored the performances of the entire directing team participating in a form of a daytime drama. Richard Dunlap has received the most wins for his direction on The Young and the Restless, with a total of two. The soap opera holds the record for the most awards, winning on thirteen occasions (including Dunlap's wins). The Young and the Restless has also received the most nominations, with a total of twenty-six. (Full list...)

Davis Cup champions have been named since 1900, when the annual international team event in men's tennis was established as the International Lawn Tennis Challenge. The Davis Cup is run by the International Tennis Federation, who describe it as the "World Cup of tennis." The first event in 1900 was a match between Great Britain and the United States. The tournament sees players competing for their country in four singles and one doubles matches, known as rubbers, over the course of three days, with the team that wins three rubbers progressing. The United States are the most successful nation in the history of the competition, with 32 victories. Australia are second with 28 (individually or in a combined Australasia team) and Great Britain and France are tied for third with 10. Teams from Europe have won the competition the most with 42 victories, followed by North America with 32 and Oceania with 28. (Full list...)
