Junkers Ju 87[edit]

I am looking to take this to GA status. After taking it from what was more or less a stub to its current state I think it might stand a chance at becoming a good article. Just looking for some help/guidance. Dapi89 (talk) 00:36, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. More will come later. Are you sure that the aircraft was used by the Spanish Air Force? I'm not sure if the Condor Legion transferred any to the Spanish Air Force at the end of the Spanish Civil War (I know that the SAF accepted many M109s into service, but I didn't know about the Ju 87). The Spanish Air Force's website actually doesn't mention that it was accepted into service (specifically, it says that between 1935-1939 the SAF accepted the following aircraft.

Yes the Ju 87 did serve in the Spanish Air Force during the conflict. None were retained, but they definitely served and I can cite it if need be. Dapi89 (talk) 12:35, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I can cite the fact that they part of the Condor Legion and had Spanish Air Force marking during the conflict. They were an amalgamation of Spanish and Luftwaffe markings. Dapi89 (talk) 12:55, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

True. But they did operate in support of and displayed Spanish Air Force (while Nationalist Air Force) insignia. Does this not count? If not I can take it out. It isn't a major problem. Dapi89 (talk) 15:47, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Very nice article, some comments

  1. In the lead: "Hans-Ulrich Rudel was the most notable Stuka ace and was the most highly decorated German serviceman of World War II." That's a one sentence paragraph.
  2. metric untis versus imperial units: The article doesn't make consistent use of the measuring system; examples: The Ju 87 could take off in just 250 metres and climb to 6,000 ft in just eight minutes; 290 kph at 4,000 feet; etc.
  3. Wrk Nr. -> Werknummer -> production/serial number should be explained
  4. Sturzbomber-programm all German nouns must be capitalized
  5. LG 1 -> Lehrgeschwader 1 (LG 1)
  6. Wiki link Army Group Center
  7. fix link HMS Foylebank

Piotr Mikołajski[edit]

  • Date of the first flight is known, you may link it.
  • There is redundant info about retiring of aircraft. If date is known, there is no need to write that aircraft was retired.
  • Lead could be improved with info about transferring Ju 87 from dive bomber duties to night harrasment bomber and anti-tank duties.
  • Photos of Ernst Udet and his aircraft make text "sandwiched", it's against style guidelines.
  • AFAIK German Werknummer is shortened to WNr / W.Nr, not Wrk Nr.
  • Daimler-Benz DB 600 engine could be linked to its article as well as other engines and aircraft with their own articles.
  • Udet's aircraft was Curtiss Hawk II (Model 65), not P-6 Hawk.
  • There was no RAFWaffe unit, it's just common name for all Luftwaffe aircraft tested by RAF. Captured German aircraft were tested by RAE and at least one special RAF unit.

  • I have changed some spellings one POWERPLANT to POWER PLANT I am sure its two words but an Aviation expert may help.
  • Not sure about the convention here but should we wikilink Max Immelmann to Sturzkampfgeschwader 2 "Immelmann" operated the Ju 87 in the lead section ? I presume they were named after him.
  • Link Hermann Pohlmann Ernst Udet Carl Plauth is he the same person as the WWI Ace ? if so we may also need an article.
