Some Wikipedians have formed a task force to better organize information in articles related to Oregon state highways. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please list yourself as a participant below, or inquire on the talk page.

Scope[edit]

The purpose of this project is to expand and introduce a uniform format to articles dealing with state highways in the state of Oregon.

Resources[edit]

Structure and standards[edit]

See WP:USRD/STDS for more details. Articles should best start with a short description of the state highway. This description should say where the route begins and ends, as well as any discontinuities, as defined by law. Unique details about this route may be added, but use sparingly.

Naming convention[edit]

Please be aware of Oregon's separation of "routes" and "highways".

Articles for signed routes are titled Oregon Route X, for example, Oregon Route 217.

Redirects from alternative names should be made as well. Use this completion list to aid in creating these redirects.

Articles for unsigned state highways are titled by their name, i.e. Tualatin Valley Highway. Redirects from Oregon Highway X should be created, with a clear disambiguating message at the top of the article. For names that are redundant with highway names elsewhere, suffix with (Oregon), for example: Sunset Highway (Oregon).

Categories[edit]

Put the signed routes in this category.
Please use a three-digit sort key (i.e. 003 for Oregon Route 3, 070 for Oregon Route 70, 166 for Oregon Route 166) when putting articles in this category.
Put the unsigned highways in this category without a sortkey.
