Rock Island Omaha Terminal[edit]

Introductory[edit]

The Rock Island Omaha Terminal is a corporation of Nebraska. Its principal office is at Omaha, Nebr., while the general and administrative offices are at Chicago, Ill.

The company was controlled on December 31, 1932, by the carrier through ownership of all the outstanding capital stock. It did not control any other common-carrier corporation.

The property of the Rock Island Omaha Terminal has been operated since January 1, 1930, the date it was placed in operation, by the Rock Island.

Corporate History[edit]

The Rock Island Omaha Terminal was incorporated May 28, 1914, under the general laws of Nebraska, to construct, operate, and maintain a railroad in Douglas County, Nebr., with terminal facilities, depots, buildings, tracks, sidetracks, switches, locomotives, cars, equipment, warehouses, and other facilities and appurtenances convenient or necessary for the transportation, receipt, discharge, loading, unloading, transfer, handling, and storage of freight and other traffic.

Development of Fixed Physical Property[edit]

The property of the Rock Island Omaha Terminal was acquired by construction. The major portion of the land was acquired by the carrier for this company during the period 1911 to 1914. During the period 1915 to 1929 the Rock Island Omaha Terminal acquired additional lands and constructed the buildings, platforms, tracks, and appurtenances necessary for the operation of freight terminal facilities at Omaha, Nebr., which serve the Rock Island.

Leased Railway Property[edit]

The property of this company has been operated since January 1, 1930, by the Rock Island without formal lease. The latter pays all taxes and assessments. It holds and owns all of the outstanding funded debt on which no interest has accrued or been paid. The Rock Island Omaha Terminal does not record in its accounts any amounts for rental received or interest paid.
