The Union Stock Yards Company of Omaha (Limited), herein called the carrier, owns and operates stockyard facilities and a standard-gage, steam-operated, switching railroad, located at Omaha and South Omaha, Nebr., which performs general switching service between connecting carriers and the various packing houses in the stockyards district. The stockyard facilities have been inventoried by us as noncarrier. The track mileage, all owned and used, consists of yard tracks and sidings aggregating 33.797 miles.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated December 1, 1883, under the general laws of the State of Nebraska for the purpose of conducting a packing and feeding business in connection with which it proposed to build and operate a railroad extending westerly from the city of Omaha, Nebr. The date of organization has not been determined.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, aggregating 33.797 miles of yard tracks and sidings, was constructed by it at various dates not determinable from the records reviewed. The records reviewed do not indicate whether the road was constructed by the carrier's own forces or by contract.
