Tagging and Assessment[edit]

Any articles that are within the scope of this project should be tagged with {{WikiProject United States|class=|importance=|USGov=Yes|USGov-importance=}} banner. The resulting article ratings are used within the project to help in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work. They also play a role in the WP:1.0 program, which the WikiProject uses to help automate some of the assessing process.

  • The template should be placed on the talk pages of relevant articles to put them under the project's radar. It looks like this:
WikiProject United States / Government (Rated Project-class)
WikiProject icon This page is within the scope of WikiProject United States, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage of topics relating to the United States of America on Wikipedia. If you would like to participate, please visit the project page, where you can join the ongoing discussions.
Project  This page does not require a rating on the project's quality scale.
Taskforce icon
This page is supported by WikiProject U.S. Government.

The assessment is done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WikiProject United States}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:United States Government articles by quality. WP:1.0 also produces a statistics page, and a log of articles assessed.
