Very tangentially apropos given the source essay alluded to in the title: Did you know that in French a pie-chart is known as a Camembert? And the @ sign is known as an escargot? - No way that's actually what they're called... that's delightful. I must admit I'm somewhat surprised, but the French term (or at least one of the terms) for cotton candy is, if I'm remembering this correctly, something that translates into English as "Daddy's Beard", so... that does check out.
