The Wikipedia Takes Brooklyn photo scavenger hunt was held on Saturday September 7, 2013 at Brooklyn Public Library's central branch by Grand Army Plaza in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.

This event was part of Wikipedia Takes America and Wiki Loves Monuments, and built on previous NYC Wikipedia Takes Manhattan hunts.

Events of the day[edit]

Join our Wikipedia Takes Brooklyn scavenger hunt and photo contest, aimed at illustrating Wikipedia articles covering the wondrous sights of the County of Kings!

We'll introduce things starting at 10am, and then send you off at 12 noon, on itineraries stretching in eccentric lines from the Brooklyn Public Library throughout Prospect Heights, and the borough beyond.

The afternoon will be spent on your Brooklyn photo wiki-odyssey, and there will also be Wikipedia discussion and learning sessions (including open office hours and one-on-one trainings) back at the library if you return early.

Be back at the library by 5pm, and we'll spend the last hour of the day helping you upload your photos to Wikipedia.

The event is being held as part of "Wiki Weekend" at the BPL, and there will be a taste of the overlapping "Families Learning Bilingually" session for part of our afternoon Saturday, and then for all of Sunday September 8 (we will have opportunities for informal Wikipedia sessions on Sunday as well).

No special wiki knowledge is required at all, just a camera and a love of the borough!
