First Reviews

[edit]

Just wondering if Mentors were available to look over the first reviews of new reviewers? I've done one review so far, but wonder if I really got it right? Nicholas Perkins (TC) 10:39, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's a major part of what we're available for. If you want a review looking over, either drop a note on one of our talk pages, or leave a message here. If it's the review you mention above that you'd like someone to check over, could you provide a link? All the best, and welcome to the GA WikiProject! EyeSereneTALK 17:39, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ment me

[edit]

I think I want to get up off my symbolic fat butt and review some GA noms. I don't know how to do that just yet - either technically or content-wise. Is anyone willing to answer questions for my first GA? You can msg me on my talk page I suppose. --Moni3 (talk) 18:04, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your request - I've replied on your talk page. Regards, EyeSerenetalk 20:30, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback is welcome

[edit]

I jumped in and tackled the Cold fusion review, because I knew it was going to be hell, and it has been, but we're about done; just a little more arguing over sources, and then we can chalk up another GA. I'd appreciate feedback on anything you guys see that I did right or wrong. Warning: it starts with Talk:Cold fusion#Plan of attack for Good Article nomination, and runs for quite a few sections, with a lot of back-and-forth. My review clearly fails the "lightweight" test; I didn't think that was desirable on this one. - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 22:23, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for mentor/admin coach

[edit]

I've added my name to WP:ACOACH, but if any of you guys are interested, I'd really prefer to work with someone who has a focus on GAN/GAR. I'm trying to live up to the standards of a good science journalist: balance different points of view, copyedit, and popularize. Balancing different points of view sometimes requires dealing with contentious editing, and I'd like to try for RfA some day to get the WP:RFPP button to help me do that. But I think my focus should remain on improving articles that are around the maturity level of GA, so I'd prefer a coach and/or mentor from the ranks of GA reviewers. - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 15:29, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not an admin but admin coaching is sort of my thing (apparantly) - I'd be happy to if you're interested. giggy (:O) 00:04, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aware :) I also heard admin coaches say that you knew 10 times what they knew about Wikipedia, so I have no reservations, in fact I'm honored to accept. - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 00:32, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just wrote my first review. Please revise.

[edit]

Here is my first review and therefore I could probably use some mentoring.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 22:53, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Second review

[edit]

I just wrote my second GA review. I kindly ask somebody to check it here.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 13:43, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Keen to do reviews

[edit]

Hi watchers. I have been directed here to find a mentor. I am keen to get involved in the GA process, but would like a bit of guidance while I find my feet. I have currently reviewed three seperate and quite diverse articles. They are Talk:Scott Brown/GA1, Talk:Stade Roland Garros/GA1 (second reviewer) and Talk:Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science/GA3 (which is the only active one). Any advice would be appreciated. AIRcorn (talk) 08:33, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reconfigure this page?

[edit]

This page is in my opinion underutilised. I was thinking of turning it into a noticeboard style page. One where new or unsure reviewers could ask questions about reviewing. I know they can do so at WP:GAN or WP:GACR, but I feel that if this was used exclusively for this purpose it could attract more new reviewers. Also those pages tend to get fulled up with other more advanced discussions and may be off-putting for someone with a simple question about prose, sources and the like. It could be good to have a specific place where common questions can be found and answered too. It would still list potential mentors, just possibly be a bit more useful. What do others think? Dropping a note

[edit]

I thought I would drop a note here. I commend the objectives of this effort. I am not adding my name to the mentors list since I am such a bad reviewer. I don't really like to review and end up doing tedious reviews since I generally only review articles I really want to learn about. I read them too closely and end up PRing them more than reviewing them for GAC. I don't think you really would benefit with me as a mentor despite my productive GA involvement.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:02, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
