Unproven Theory[edit]

Flat Earthism is a theory, not a fact, that Flat Earthers are reluctant to test rigorously. Deletion will prove this statement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.72.73 (talk) 15:05, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: WP:SNOW close. There is an overwhelming consensus that the article should stay at the current title and should stay with the current manner of approaching the topic too. RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 14:22, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Why Wikipedia cannot claim the Earth is not flatWikipedia:Why Wikipedia cannot claim COVID-19 is not a hoax – the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic 207.81.187.41 (talk) 04:59, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The Flat Earth allegory is timeless and completely free of political/social baggage. I don't see any value in changing it. - LuckyLouie (talk) 13:46, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose and suggest this should be closed speedily for lack of rationale. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 20:24, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per the above. There is not a clear rationale and I also do not see any value in this change. Aoba47 (talk) 02:05, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per above and WP:RECENTISM. TiggerJay(talk) 16:35, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per previous commenters (especially LuckyLouie); the Flat Earth allegory also makes for a more natural-sounding title than COVID does. ModernDayTrilobite (talk) 18:54, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - the article is not about Covid, it should be at it's own place with relevant content, not here. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:08, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Triple negative in opening sentence, ugh![edit]

> It is unlikely that you will ever happen upon an editor who will argue that Wikipedia cannot claim that the Earth is not flat.

At a glance, I can't say that I don't disagree with this statement; it's difficult to parse. Do you not think otherwise? -- Doktor Züm (talk) 17:38, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
