New ABL uniforms[edit]

I was wondering if anyone's seen new uniform tops for the Bandits, Bite or Aces for this coming season? I've already seen the new road jersey for the Heat to go along with new road-grey pants, and I've seen what I assume to be new home jerseys for the Blue Sox and Cavalry, as they are both the more traditional white ones similar to the Heat's from last year. Given this it would seem like the others will be getting new ones as well (and maybe updating some of the coloured ones from last season to have the more traditional city name on the road and the mascot/whatever on the home, like with the Heat's setup). I'm in the process of getting the graphics updated for the team pages and the team's season pages as well, but don't want to do the 3 others until I've got a source for them.  Afaber012  (talk)  07:13, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Call off the dogs - I found sources for the three remaining teams. Looks like everyone is getting a new jersey for the new season. I'll have the new versions of the uniforms up (hopefully) in the next day or two, as long as I can get it done before the Blue Sox's home opener tomorrow night.
Speaking of which, a reminder of the userboxes I created for the ABL can be found here.  Afaber012  (talk)  00:23, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Wikimedians to the Games[edit]

Not directly baseball related… but general Australian sport stuff which could help experience wise with Australian baseball improving. :) If there are any general Australian sport fans lurking around, Wikimedians to the Games is a collaboration drive to improve Australian Paralympic articles, with the most active contributors having an opportunity to go attend the Paralympic Games and to cover the Games behind the scenes with a press pass. The top two contributors will get their airfare and accommodation paid for. :) The drive official starts on 10 January 2012. --LauraHale (talk) 09:47, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Perth Heat multiple identities[edit]

There seems to be quite a bit of confusion over in the Perth Heat article over who it is or should be with a number of redirects in the wrong place. i think this needs everyone's attention to sort out ASAP. --Dan027 (talk) 06:21, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

ABL postseason article names[edit]

I was thinking about this last season but did nothing about it then, but have been reminded of it this season. Though the seasons are across two years and so named as the "2010–11 ... season", the postseasons are only in one year, and are named that way on the official site and in the logos that have been produced so far: for both seasons and both the postseason overall and the championship series. When I created the All-Star game article I named it with just 2011, and am thinking that (especially with the official naming agreeing) the postseason articles should be renamed to just the year that they occur in, so the current one would be "2012 Australian Baseball League postseason". Before I went and made the changes I just wanted to double-check that this was reasonable.  Afaber012  (talk)  23:16, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Agree, im sure that is the same way they would engrave it on the Claxton Shield also. --Dan027 (talk) 11:06, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Baseball Victoria Article[edit]

just bringing it to the attention of everyone here the Baseball Vic article was nominated for deletion in May 2012 and there is still a non-notibility template on the top of the page, if anyone has the time to add some sources to the article so we dont loose it would be good. --Dan027 (talk) 03:48, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

RfC on the use of flag icons for sportspeople[edit]

An RfC discussion about the MOS:FLAG restriction on the use of flag icons for sportspeople has been opened at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Icons. We invite all interested participants to provide their opinion here. Qwyrxian (talk) 02:46, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Claxton Shield teams[edit]

I just brought up a question over on the Claxton Shield talk page, just after anyones thoughts and information they may have. --Dan027 (talk) 07:00, 13 February 2013 (UTC)

Provincial Baseball[edit]

Just a thought if anyone wants to get a start on articles for the Webb Cup (Country NSW vs Vic Provincial) and Commonwealth Cup (Australian Provincial Championships), been meaning to get into those for awhile but things keep coming up! and a couple of sources i have bookmarked for it; 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013, official site, ABF site --Dan027 (talk) 11:01, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

WikiConfererence Australia 2015 - Save the date 3-5 October 2015[edit]

Our first Australian conference for Wikipedians/Wikimedians will be held 3-5 October 2015. Organised by Wikimedia Australia, there will be a 2-day conference (Saturday 3 October and Sunday 4 October) with an optional 3rd day (Monday 5 October) for specialist topics (unconference discussions, training sessions, etc). The venue is the State Library of Queensland in Brisbane. So put those dates in your diary! Note: Monday is a public holiday is some states but not others. Read about it here: WikiConference Australia 2015

As part of that page, there are now sections for you to:

  • indicate your interest in possibly attending the conference (this is not a binding commitment, of course)
  • add suggestions for topics to include in the conference: what you would like to hear/discuss (again, there is no commit to you presenting/organising that topic, although it’s great if you are willing to do so), or indicate your enthusiasm for any existing topic on the list by adding a note of support underneath it

It would really help our planning if you could let us know about possible attendance and the kind of topics that would make you want to come. If you don’t want to express your views on-wiki, please email me at or

We are hoping to have travel subsidies available to assist active Australasian Wikipedians to attend the conference, although we are not currently in a position to provide details, but be assured we are doing everything we can to make it possible for active Australian Wikipedians to come to the conference. Kerry (talk) 05:16, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Folks, just letting you know we will not be proceeding with Wikiconference Australia 2015 originally proposed for 3-5 October 2015. Thanks to those of you who expressed your support. You are free to attend the football finals instead :-) Kerry (talk) 08:07, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
