Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine/Participants
Hello! You're probably on the wrong discussion page. If you want to talk to people about medicine-related articles, then try Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine, where we'd love to hear from you. (This page is just for talking about the actual list of people who have signed up to help, and almost nobody pays any attention to it.) |

Purge
[edit]Do you think it would be helpful to purge this list of people who are now inactive? For example, no contributions in 2007. Colin°Talk 19:07, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Or dump to a list of "Inactive members"? -- MarcoTolo 22:45, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
What is the definition of "inactive"? JFW | T@lk 21:53, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm about to make the to charts (Inactive and Previous Members) part of an expandable chart / box. If someone thinks this is a bad idea, tell me here or on my talk page. Garvin Talk 23:08, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- I just saved the page with collapsible tables for Inactive and Previous Participants. Next I will make the Active Participants chart collapsible, but have it un-collapsed by default. Also, I will not move the active participants chart to a sub-page so that new members will be able to add themselves more easily. Garvin Talk 23:39, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- All three charts are now collapsible. Since this probably solves this discussion topic, it can probably be removed soon. Garvin Talk 00:12, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

- Well, actually, after a long career-enforced absence from wikiland, I've come back to once again be bold, as I have a new career path, and found that its a bit of a pain in butt moving my name from the inactive list back to the active list. Is there an easy way? Mattopaedia (talk) 01:55, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- The way you have done it seems correct: Go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Medicine/Participants/Inactive or Wikipedia:WikiProject Medicine/Participants/Previous and cut and paste yourself from that list to re-add yourself to the chart at Wikipedia:WikiProject Medicine/Participants. The current setup (only the "active" chart appearing in the code for the participants page) is designed to make it easy for newcommers (only one chart = can't mistakingly add to the wrong chart). If it would be easier to maintain, perhaps all three charts could be moved back to one page.Garvin Talk 04:50, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
List tidy-up
[edit]Added myself to the list and sorted it. About nine different ways to sort previously used, so I just listed according to display name, ignoring surnames. Cheers, Basie (talk) 04:37, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Added myself and then took it upon myself to recode the entire list. Hope that it works better now. Please excuse any minor errors. I had cleared all the admin bolds out before realizing their intent. Have repaired that, but a second pair of eyes to check it would be nice. Sincerely --Bullock 23:12, 20 April 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by E.w.bullock (talk • contribs)
- Also added myself and took the time to sort the list alphabetically and clean up some glarring format issues. Double checked everything and I don't think I broke anything... Xeldarith (talk) 00:37, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
Member Sweep
[edit]Hi guys.
I was looking through the contributions of some of our members, and an alarming number have either not edited or have retired from Wikipedia. I'd suggest we do a member sweep. Would not editting Wikipedia after 1 January, 2009 constitute of an inactive member or back farther? Up to you all I guess. Renaissancee (talk) 00:23, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- I agree 1 January is a perfectly reasonable cutoff. JFW | T@lk 19:01, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes would agree. Would be curious to know how many people this project actually has actively editing.Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 04:30, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Veins
[edit]Hi. I'm new here and I would like to stay even if I'm Portuguese. Veins, arteries, heart, are my passion. I did an article about a special GSV tributary, the accessory saphenous vein, I did it in a subpage but now I realize that the main page has been redirected to saphenous vein. That vein is really important in varicose vein disease and has a different treatment. It deserves its own page. Is it possible to undo that redirect? This is my subpage: User:Nini00/Acessory saphenous vein so you can check my work, and I wait yet another image. Thank you for your help Nini ✉ 20:30, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
- I've copied this over to WT:MED, the best place for it, in my opinion. Biosthmors (talk) 21:13, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
"Society and Culture" Cholera Section, Effective Cholera Vaccines
[edit]I would like to add a “society and culture” section to the existing Cholera article for a class. This section will include information about the role governments play on the prevention and spread of cholera, and other socio-economic factors that influence its spread. I think it is important to make these connections because if cholera spreads, there are serious economic and social political repercussions for the country. Governments also play an important role in preventing/ helping cholera spread, an important connection that is not always made. As the current Wikipedia article on “Cholera” notes, the disease is pretty much under control in developed nations. However, it is still a huge issue in developing countries. This is a highly relevant topic, since cholera prevention in developed countries shows it can be stopped, but recent outbreaks in poorer countries show that it is still occurring, when it does not need to be. The amounts of cholera outbreaks have actually risen in some countries-like Haiti- over the past few years. This makes exploring its spread a highly relevant topic. Does anyone have thoughts about creating a “society and culture” section? In this section, I will summarize a lot of existing Wikipedia articles related to cholera, like “Cholera Outbreaks and Epidemics,” “Cholera Vaccine,” “Zimbabwean Cholera Outbreak,” and “2010-13 Haiti Cholera Outbreak.” What other topics do you think should be covered in a “society and culture” section on Wikipedia? Are there specific vaccines or treatments that have been particularly effective at preventing Cholera? Are there some vaccines that are still being used, but are actually not very effective?

- I have moved this to the main talk page (here, where it can be more appropriately discussed. Please do not reply further on this page. Kind regards, LT90001 (talk) 22:03, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
Not seeing a list
[edit]I only see one user listed here. Am I not seeing something because I'm on my phone or is this not used anymore? RareDiseaseWikiFacts (talk) 03:49, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
