WikiProject Montenegro page makeover[edit]

Was wondering if anyone would like for me to do a makeover for the WikiProject Montenegro page? It will look really good. Let me know if you all are interested. Regards. Wiki Raja (talk) 04:53, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Sure, let's see what you've got -- CD 18:33, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Will let you know in a week. Wiki Raja (talk) 06:46, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

WikiProject Montenegro page makeover complete[edit]

Please let me know what you all think of this new and improved page here I've created for the WikiProject Montenegro. If you all like it, then I'll go ahead and merge this page. Regards. Wiki Raja (talk) 03:20, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

I think it is way better then the current one. You have my support. Sideshow Bob 16:46, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it is nice, although some amendments for aesthetic purpose should occur. For example, I don't know about others, but I don't really think that the buttons in the top are rather nice. I understand the idea (impression from the national Flag), but still. --PaxEquilibrium (talk) 10:22, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
Oh, come on, no need for nitpicking... If you can do a better job, go on, no one is stopping you :) Sideshow Bob 10:42, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

The discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jadran (ship) may be of interest to participants here. Jadran (ship) is a training ship of the navy of Montenegro, and was originally built for the navy of Yugoslavia. -- Eastmain (talk) 15:35, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Coordinators' working group[edit]

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:03, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Article alerts[edit]

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Thanks. — Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 09:26, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

I suggest the group the reconsideration of the part about the ethnic groups in the city of Cattaro/Kotor. There, in a given list of ethnic groups, such as Montenegrins, Serbs,Croats, etc., a category under the name of "the Muslims" seems odd to me. Excuse me but isn't there a difference between the definition of ethnic groups and religion groups? I do not understand why a religion group falls under the category of ethnic groups. Who are these "the Muslims"? The Turks, the Arabs, or the native people who converted to Islam? Say they are the native people, does it make a difference? Is there any difference between a Christian Montenegrin and a Muslim Montenegrin in respect to their ethnicity? Cliom (talk) 21:09, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

@Cliom Hey, next time try clicking "new section" so it would be in order by date. Anyway Muslim as ethnic group, well it's very discussable but what is most importing that people in Montenegro can declare as a Muslim (in ethnic meaning). It was like that since the communism and some Muslims in Montenegro declare them self as Bosniaks, some as Muslims and some as Montenegrins.

"Is there any difference between a Christian Montenegrin and a Muslim Montenegrin in respect to their ethnicity? "

Not really. Like I said, there are people who are Muslim(religion) but say for them self they are Montenegrin, and some declare as Bosniaks/Muslims. It's a long story, but the point is that they can declare them self as Muslims, and in each census you have % of declared Bosniaks and Muslims, and they are separate. Montenegro Country Article[edit]

Hello. I was reviewing the article on Montenegro and noted that much of the article has problems with grammar, style, and as a result, does not read well. I am not sure if cleaning the article is already part of the wider Montenegro project. If so, I will leave it in the hands of those responsible for that. If not, and there is consensus, I can start cleaning the article to conform to written English. Please advise. Thanks.Gary Joseph (talk) 15:34, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

You want to write it grammatically correct? Sure, Montenegrin articles needs a support from people whose English is native language and who speak it and write it properly. Rave92(talk) 19:22, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

"Dobar Dan". Okay. I will get on it as soon as possible. I will have to do it in parts, as the article is long and I do not want to override new changes being made to it. I will only change it for grammar and some style, but not for content. If I see any change that might conceivably affect content, I will flag it and leave it up to the Project for discussion. I will keep you updated on my progress. Thanks.Gary Joseph (talk) 21:23, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Hehe, dobar dan ;). Thanks for your further effort. Best regards. Rave92(talk) 22:04, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Why on earth does it say Serbian in Cyrillic and Montenegrin in Latin? As if both dont use both scripts...? --PaxEquilibrium (talk) 14:21, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Proper name for the navy of Montenegro?[edit]

Since there's no separate article for Montenegro's navy, what is the most common name for it? I've been categorizing ship articles and created Category:Ships of the Montenegro Navy (and some subcats) since that is the name generated by Template:Country data Montenegro when using {{navy|Montenegro}}. If there is a different name, please let me know and I'll change the category names. Also, was there a different name for the pre-1918 navy (like maybe Royal Montenegrin Navy?) as compared to the post-2006 navy? Many thanks in advance. — Bellhalla (talk) 15:52, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

WP 1.0 bot announcement[edit]

This message is being sent to each WikiProject that participates in the WP 1.0 assessment system. On Saturday, January 23, 2010, the WP 1.0 bot will be upgraded. Your project does not need to take any action, but the appearance of your project's summary table will change. The upgrade will make many new, optional features available to all WikiProjects. Albania TF for Principality of Zeta and Duklja[edit]

I tagged Albania TF Principality of Zeta and Duklja, hope there are no problems for the Montenegrin users. The reason behind is that it included large parts of today's Albania and it has to be studied as a historical part for both Montenegro and Albania. Hope there any problems, if there are, please let me know in my talk page. Btw these pages have been developed mostly exclusively by Montenegrin users, so before making any edits, the Albanian editors will be very careful. Thank you for letting me use your talk page. Best! --Sulmues Let's talk 01:13, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure they have enough to do with Albania for the 'Albania Topics' template to be included on the articles. These places were ruled by Serbs and they were inhabited by Slavic-speakers. The only way they seem to be related to Albania is that some of their former territory just so happens to be in present-day Albania. It's not like you'd put this same template on Byzantine Empire just because the territory of Albania was once part of that empire. --Local hero talk 01:46, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
Both states (Zeta and Duklja) include Shkoder and Malesia and sometimes Zadrima. Please allow me to disagree that those three settlements/areas have been inhabited exclusively by Serbs over the time of their existence, as I would dispute that. In addition let's make a parallel with the Despotate of Angelokastron and Lepanto. It was ruled by Albanian rulers (Gjin Bue Shpata), however the territory falls under today's Greece, in addition Greeks lived there at that time, not only Albanians, hence it is covered by the Greece TF, as well as the Albanian (Talk:Despotate of Angelokastron and Lepanto). The example that you bring on the Byzantine Empire is impertinent because you would have to include probably 12-13 countries and that would have been problematic, so there is a consensus there, but Zeta and Duklja are only Serbian-Montenegrin-Albanian related.--Sulmues Let's talk 02:07, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
These articles mention Albania or Albanians few times throughout their entirety. So one assumes that Albanians had no significance in either of these states and it is thus very confusing to have a template called 'Albania Topics' at the bottom of an article about a place that seems to have little to do with Albania. --Local hero talk 02:40, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
You may be right and probably I'm not taking the right approach. In the articles Albanians are not mentioned at all and they should, because they were part of those states, but I thought it was a given. Well, let's have some more Albanian contributions to those articles first and then we can put those templates. For now feel free to remove them if you don't feel like they belong there. My point is we, as Albanian contributors should give some more contributions in those articles before tagging them. --Sulmues Let's talk 03:36, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Please remove it as Duklja and Zeta have nothing to do with Albania. Montenegro is the continuity of Duklja and Zeta that's why it has Montenegro topic. Like LocalHero said, you wouldn't put Albania topics on Byzantine Empire. So can you please remove it from Zeta and Duklja? Rave92(talk) 14:25, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

I removed, although I think that in the future it will be replaced again. Those states included Albanians and in a broader sense Albania TF should cover, but for now the Albanian contribution is really poor so I'm holding off. Thanks! --Sulmues Let's talk 15:06, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
As promised I retagged. Per talk in Talk:Demetrius_of_Pharos, which is now tagged WP Montenegro per the same reasoning. --Sulmues (talk) 02:05, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

I assessed article Pljevlja as class=C instead of previous class=GA, because it lacks references. It has been rated as GA on 3 December 2008 by an IP. I think that was mistake? Am I wrong? Kebeta (talk) 09:19, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Montenegro articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release[edit]

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We would like to ask you to review the Montenegro articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

WikiWomen's History Month[edit]

Hi everyone. March is Women's History Month and I'm hoping a few folks here at WP:Montenegro will have interest in putting on events (on and off wiki) related to women's roles in Montenegro's history, society and culture. We've created an event page on English Wikipedia (please translate!) and I hope you'll find the inspiration to participate. These events can take place off wiki, like edit-a-thons, or on wiki, such as themes and translations. Please visit the page here: WikiWomen's History Month. Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to seeing events take place! SarahStierch (talk) 22:07, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Montenegro acceptance of A-Class assessment by WikiProject Military History[edit]

G'day all, This project does not have a track record of many A-Class reviews. In order to progress more articles to A-Class and FA status within this WikiProject, I propose that we agree to accept A-Class assessments from WikiProject Military History, which has an active and comprehensive process for A-Class review. Thus, if an article passes A-Class for WikiProject Military History, it would automatically be promoted to A-Class status in this WikiProject as well. Peacemaker67 (talk) 07:21, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal[edit]

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X icon.svg

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject[edit]

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.

If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.

Thank you.    — The Transhumanist   07:48, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
