How are we going to do this?

Hello--

Well, I guess we have to decide how we are going to do this. I have listed several articles in the template for to do tasks, though I realize that this might be ambitious for a new WikiProject. We have a few options. We can just go free for all (I've mainly been working on the Oregon Coast article, which needs a lot of work), or we can do it collaboration style. As more people enter the project, I hope that we can find an effective and efficient way to handle this. PDXblazers 08:15, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

I have entered some pages I would like to see worked on in the To do template. We can discuss or add more. PDXblazers 19:52, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Just joined the project!

Hi, I can help with a bunch of things and bring my previous articles on Territorial Governors, Portland architecture, and Portland transportation into this project. Glad to be on board!

don't get mad at me...

I moved the WikiProject to Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon from Wikipedia:Wikiproject Oregon (note capitalization). All WikiProjects use camelcase on Projects w/in the name, so I did it for consistency. I don't have time to go through fixing this for consitency throughout WP:WPOR, so someone, PLEASE, see to this ASAP! Tomertalk 04:40, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Alright, I did a bit of messing around to nip that in the bud... please forgive my brashness... Other'n'at, good work, and welcome to the family of state WikiProjects. :-) Tomertalk 05:19, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
I don't agree with the move, most of the projects listed at Wikipedia:List of WikiProjects use WikiProject. Cacophony 01:31, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Project Divisions

I'd like to begin getting things organized in the city and transport divisions

Hello. I'm a member of the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, which is looking to identify quality articles in Wikipedia for future publication on CD or paper. We recently began assessing articles using these criteria, and we are are asking for your help. As you are most aware of the issues surrounding your focus area, we are wondering if you could provide us with a list of the articles that fall within the scope of your WikiProject, and that are either featured, A-class, B-class, or Good articles, with no POV or copyright problems. Do you have any recommendations? If you do, please post your suggestions at the listing of all active Places WikiProjects, and if you have any questions, ask me in the Work Via WikiProjects talk page or directly in my talk page. Thanks a lot! Titoxd(?!? - help us) 06:30, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

My contributions.

I can take photos of the Eugene/Springfield Area. If there are articles that need illustration of Eugene or Springfield, let me know.

Also, I can add to articles of Lane County. I know people in government here, and I can get some stats.

I'll start updating the Willamette River! Adam850 05:09, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

University of Oregon article needs photos badly! Also, the Eugene artilce needs a great pic of the skyline, maybe from Spencers Butte? I'd do it myself, but am currently without a camera.

Thanks PDXblazers 06:13, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Count me in

I'd like to join WikiProject Oregon. I've been editing on Wikipedia for about 9 months now. Most of the articles I edit are political in nature. I've been working on the 2006 Gubernatorial article for awhile. Anyway, if there are things I can help with, please let me know. Davidpdx 04:35, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Hey!

Hey i'm new to this whole wikipedia thing. I live in Medford so I personallly would like to see a lot done with the Oregon articles. And I dont want to be selfish but can you "pros" go and try to put at least one picture in the Medford, Oregon article. Anyways I can't contribute to much because I kinda get confused with all this editing stuff. So if you could just help me, and respond to this so I know people read it, it would be much appreciated! --Steven91 05:56, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Sister Cities

I managed to track down all the major cities in Oregon, their sister cities, and added them all into their respective articles. Some Japanese cities are a little vague, but going to research to get the correct ones lined up with their Oregon partners. I plan on cross-linking the foreign locations back to the Oregon cities, and filling in all of Oregon's partnerships on the List of sister cities in the United States.

Transportation subproject

It's been a Wiki binge for me today! Just started a Transportation subproject page. and activated it's own talk page. That'll keep things a bit more organized.

Going to activate the city subproject talk page as well...

Wikipedia BOF at this July's OSCON

I am in the process of organizing a BOF on Wikipedia for this conference, & would like to invite everyone who can make it. (And I've learned that you don't need to pay money to attend the BOFs at this conference, so that shouldn't prevent anyone from coming.) -- llywrch 15:35, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I noticed that the driving directions [1] to the event headquarters hotel (the DoubleTree near the Lloyd Center), are incorrect for Seattle-bound traffic; the directions posted lead instead towards Riverplace, Keller Auditorium, etc. I may be wrong, but the I think the convention used to be in SW Portland before it got big enough to move...
Doubtless, the wrong directions are a ruse to fool any gate-crashers driving down I-5 from Redmond.... :)

List of Bands from Oregon

Can anyone explain to me what happened to the original List of bands from Oregon? It looks like someone started a new one. The old one was wikified, in alphabetical order and included the city of origin. I liked it. How is it possible to make a whole article go away like that? Makes me nervous... Katr67 00:55, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Good question...it had the same title, I think, so why isn't it in the page history? Hmmm... -little otik 01:51, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

It's gone again. I wrote you a note on your talk page. Katr67 16:44, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

I figured it out. See my talk page. Katr67 17:49, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

New member already at work

Hello everybody! I just want to introduce myself and let you all know I would like to help this endeavour any way I can. I just expanded the Alvord Desert article. My plan is to tackle the Steens Mountain article next and add images to both. salaam-Sosobra 23:54, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Welcome, we are glad to have you!. Cacophony 00:50, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Please see RE BC & Pacific Northwest History Forum re: Talk:List of United States military history events#Border Commission troops in the Pacific Northwest. If you think maybe I should also move some or copy some of my other stuff from NW history and BC history pages and various Indigenous peoples project article/talk pages let me know; I never mean to blog, but I'm voluble and to me everything's interconnected; never meaning to dominate a page so have made this area to post my historical rambles on. Thoughts?Skookum1 03:49, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Comment on my posting of this: if anyone has any questions or wants to debate any issues relating to Oregon Country/Columbia District/Pacific Northwest history/historical geography, colonialist or aboriginal/indigenous, please feel free to drop by the forum and start a thread/topic, or just butt in at yer leisure.Skookum1 05:50, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Oregon Stubs

A sfd discussion is being conducted here. I'm going to see about recategorizing some of the stubs. Katr67 17:20, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Actually, I guess I'm not supposed to do that. I'll stop for now. Katr67 17:44, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Assuming the Oregon stub is going to be deleted, I changed it for most of the ones left to a more specific one if available. For the others it would probably be easier to expand them. If anyone knows of more specific stub tags for the rest, please add them. Thanks! Katr67 18:21, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

The stub survived sfd. Katr67 22:12, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Oregon template

There is a movement afoot to standardize the state templates. Some of the work has already been done. You can read about it here. Katr67 01:59, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

I have boldly (stolen the idea from other projects and) created Category:WikiProject Oregon and edited {{WikiProject Oregon}} so that it automatically adds all project articles (actually, their talk pages) to the category. Conveniently, this provides us with a list of all of the articles that are tagged as being within the project's scope. I suspect that we will shortly need to start creating sub-categories, such as Category:WikiProject Oregon articles and Category:WikiProject Oregon templates, but I think this will do for the moment. Hope you all like it! Twisted86 06:36, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Anyone object if I make Wikipedia:Oregon Wikigroup Project redirect to this project? Or perhaps it is a candidate for speedy deletion? If you think there's any info there we should save, or if it's an important historical artifact (in which case maybe it can be moved to a subpage of this project) let me know. Thanks! Katr67 02:10, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

No objection here, if it's WikiKosher. In fact, I was kinda wondering about it myself. -- J-M Jgilhousen 03:04, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Looks like Cacophony took care of it. Way to be BOLD, Cacophony! Katr67 05:54, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
