First order of business

Now that this page is (kind of) up and running, we have to make sure everything on the main page works the way it's supposed to. — Levi van Tine (tc) 14:45, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Looks great! I can work on getting the WikiProject banner updated with the new tf and will start adding it to the proper pages, probably later today or tomorrow. –Drilnoth (TCL) 14:59, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
I can also work on coming up with a banner using my (admittedly poor) graphics skills. I'll probably just use some existing images and tweak/add text/etc. to them, unless somebody else would like to do this. –Drilnoth (TCL) 15:05, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Great! Have at it. I tried to make a banner but it was kind of lame/violating copyright. — Levi van Tine (tc) 15:16, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
I started work on the banner and hope to have it finished in another day or two. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 21:59, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Oops; this specific thing kind of fell off my radar. I'll add it to my short-term to-do list. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 14:16, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
I am so lame. :) Anyway, why do we really need a "banner"? I kind of like the symbol that we're using now. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 17:18, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

D&D project

It's up to you D&D project guys, but should there be links to this task force from the D&D project page, with names like "Video games taskforce" or something? — Levi van Tine (tc) 15:17, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes; I have now added to both the navigation tabs and the intro text. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 15:25, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Wow, way to be on the ball. — Levi van Tine (tc) 15:27, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Main page right panel

I tried to put the to-do list on it but it's not aligning properly. Could someone fix it?Levi van Tine (tc) 15:37, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I managed to "fix" it, but the right panel is kind of wide. Any suggestions?Levi van Tine (tc) 15:52, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
You could remove the to-do list from the predesigned "box"-type template and just use it as plain text in the template namespace... then it could be adapted to whatever location it is needed. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 16:07, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Should look better now. — Levi van Tine (tc) 07:40, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

NWN2 collabo

So I think a good goal, for interested editors, is a good topic nomination for the Neverwinter Nights series. Since there are so many articles included in the series, it may be better for us to focus on a smaller group, say the titles of Neverwinter Nights 2, and then gradually build up to NWN as a whole. So for the preliminary topic, here's what I propose:

The image is a map of Abeir-Toril I found on the Commons, feel free to change it if you can find a better one (remember, good/featured topic images must not be fair use). Because Westgate has not yet been released, I think it can be considered "an audited article of limited subject matter", and therefore exempt from several of the good topic criteria. From what I can tell, it will need a peer review and will have three months from its release date (April 29, 2009) to be listed as a good article. The other three articles should fulfill the other requirements, when they've reached GA-class. Neverwinter Nights 2 is currently up at GAN, leaving us just Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir. I'll start working on Zehir; it shouldn't take long to get to GA status. — Levi van Tine (tc) 09:20, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Great plan. You'll definetely want to take Westgate to PR to make sure that other people agree on that point, but Zehir sounds like a good "first target". –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 13:20, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Storm of Zehir is done. Could someone have a look at it and make sure there aren't any serious mess-ups? I also nominated it for Did you know, but I'm not sure the article is long enough to meet the requirements. — Levi van Tine (tc) 08:44, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Oh wow. You did that fast. :) I don't think that it was enough of an expansion (somehow) for DYK, but that article looks excellent! I'll read over it in full over the next few days and check for any problems, then I'll try and start helping with MoB. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 12:14, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
K, I'll put the article in my sandbox2 and we can work on it from there. — Levi van Tine (tc) 07:21, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
I've only taken a quick glance, but the Story section is.. less than stellar - you basically used more words to describe the first half-hour of play than everything else. The game doesn't really have that much of a main story (the focus is more on sidequests), but you'll probably want to drastically shorten that first paragraph, and perhaps try to expand the other two. --VPeric (talk) 16:38, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I haven't actually played the game, so I just gathered what I could from reviews/interviews/etc. Feel free to add information—Plot sections don't need to be as meticulously cited as much as the rest of the article. — Levi van Tine (tc) 07:21, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

If anyone is interested, we may be able to get MoW in DYK before taking it to GAN... I've already doubled the prosesize. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 16:47, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Just one article left! –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 21:18, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Baldur's Gate series template

Hey, saw a message over on the main project discussion page about a template for Baldur's Gate, so I adapted the existing template for D&D video games, subdivided into groups and posted it at Template:Baldur's Gate series. Any further thoughts/articles I missed/nitpicks, before I post it on the relevant game pages? --VPeric (talk) 17:27, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Looks good to me. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 17:32, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
I agree, but it looks like Twas Now is working on the same thing. Maybe the two of you can collaborate on it. — Levi van Tine (tc) 06:16, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Ah, his template is more comprehensive and inclues everything mine does (though I believe a more minimalist approach would be better), so I think I'll just delete mine - anyone got an idea how I'm supposed to go about doing that? --VPeric (talk) 09:41, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Put a speedy deletion tag on it, probably {{db-t3|~~~~~|Baldur's Gate}}. It will be deleted in seven days unless someone opposes it—unlikely, as you're the author. — Levi van Tine (tc) 11:06, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
The author can just use {{db-g7}}, then you wouldn't have to wait. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 12:31, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Planescape: Torment FAC

Planescape: Torment is up at FAC. Great job everyone! Is this the first ever D&D video game FA? — Levi van Tine (tc) 17:06, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Ayup. :) In fact, it's only the third really D&D-related FA ever, with Dungeons & Dragons and Dungeons & Dragons (album) before it. Frank Klepacki doesn't really count. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 17:14, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Per Klepacki's article: "The growing company enlisted him as a composer for the NES port of DragonStrike and the computer game Eye of the Beholder II. He later composed with MIDI sequencing for several other Dungeons & Dragons games." - so that makes him pretty significant to D&D, although in a tangential way, but D&D video game work is hardly the most significant thing he has done. :) BOZ (talk) 18:22, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, that's what I meant. He wasn't as essential to the game's success as, say Andy Collins and it's really just a minor relation. That article was also made an FA completely independantly of the D&D project and we just picked it up later, so it isn't exactly the "project's" FA because of that, too. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 18:30, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Exactly. :) BOZ (talk) 19:32, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Template

{{WikiProject Video games}} now includes a field for this task force. Please add the field to the template on the talk page of any article you come across within this task force's scope. — Levi van Tine (tc) 01:18, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks; there's just so much to do I forget about things. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 01:29, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

D&D video game articles lacking sources

I originally posted this on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games:

I was looking through D&D articles lately and I noticed that of all the articles with a template indicating that we are lacking any sources, there are several video game related articles. Anyone care to dig up a source or two and improve any of these articles?  :) Thanks!

There are plenty of other cleanup issues, but lacking sources is a serious one, so I figured I'd bring that up first.  :) BOZ (talk) 00:18, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Good idea... I'll try to work on this.
When I have time... ;) –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 01:23, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
There are plenty that need better and more sources, but these have absolutely none, and are therefore in more need. :) BOZ (talk) 05:41, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Neverwinter Nights 2

Neverwinter Nights 2 is a GA now - what's next?  :) BOZ (talk) 01:29, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

On the VG front, we still have Planescape: Torment and Storm of Zehir to work on. Then maybe... Baldur's Gate or DDO? –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 01:50, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Yep, I'd like to see what happens with SoZ, and then I'll start working on Mask of the Betrayer. Westgate will need some attention too, now that it's been released. Still shooting for a NWN2 good topic. — Levi van Tine (tc) 02:59, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Sounds like a solid plan. :) BOZ (talk) 03:49, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Mask of the Betrayer is now at GAN. If it makes it through, the NWN2 good topic discussed several months ago will be ready. On a related note, Mysteries of Westgate is at FAC. I think both Neverwinter Nights 2 and Storm of Zehir could also go to FAC soon...any thoughts? - Vantine84 (talk) 08:04, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

I'm along for the ride! :) I'm supportive and will help out when I can. BOZ (talk) 12:44, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

D&D video game articles lacking pictures and infoboxes

Posted this on the video games WikiProject talk page just now.

Hey there. :) Looking around at the few dozen D&D computer/video game articles we have, there are still quite a few that have no picture of the game box, and some that don't have an infobox either, although many are just fine. If you're the sort of person who likes to add such things to articles, here is a project for you. :)

Needs picture

(has picture, but it's not the box cover)

This one has no box; it's being distributed only by download. — Levi van Tine (tc) 17:11, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Needs infobox and picture

BOZ (talk) 02:15, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Ok all of these should be dealt with, except for Dark Sun Online: Crimson Sands which i have run into a bit of a problem. The problem is i cannot find a good size image to upload. the only covers available are small size covers: here and here or a slightly larger image from moby games but with a watermark. Alternatively there is the title screen but then i can only find two of them one is small and of poor quality: here or one from moby games but then that has a watermark: here. Any thoughts. Salavat (talk) 17:01, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Never mind, it got sorted by User:Jinnai. Salavat (talk) 05:03, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Pool of Radiance

Anyone alive in here? :) Want to help me get Pool of Radiance up to GA? BOZ (talk) 03:54, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Looking pretty good already. Let me know when you're ready for a peer review. — Levi van Tine (tc) 09:55, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Any time, man! :) BOZ (talk) 11:55, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Icewind Dale II

I'm looking for plot references for the Icewind Dale II article, and was told that I might find help here. I don't have the ability to play the game right now, but I discovered another way to get references. In the manual it says that if you hit CTRL-A on the journal page, you download all the contents of your journal to a text file. The text file is located in the /mpsave directory of Icewind Dale II, in the "folder of the last saved or last loaded save game." If anyone has a save at the end of the game, I would really appreciate it if you could post your journal on the Icewind Dale II talk page. The journal is going to be pretty gigantic, so you should probably hide it with <!-- and -->. 70.106.205.159 (talk) 22:11, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Review archive notification

Just thought I'd direct attention to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games#Review archive notification, for anyone who still comes here. This is because I have uncovered a significant amount of Dungeons & Dragons game reviews while digging, including the Computer Gaming World, Computer Games Magazine and PC Gamer reviews for Baldur's Gate. I haven't archived even near what I've seen so far, so keep an eye out for D&D-related updates. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 08:44, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

GTC:NWN2

I created Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/Neverwinter Nights 2/archive1. Feel free to give input/expand the contributors list. Nergaal (talk) 02:09, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Nergaal! — Vantine84 (tc) 17:36, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

The topic has passed; good work everyone. — Vantine84 (tc) 10:28, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Rename this task force

I've proposed a comprehensive cleanup of WP:VG's inactive task forces (which would include renaming this task the "RPG" task force), if you'll take a look czar  02:05, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
