William Black (1784–1873) was one of the first Mormons to serve in Ireland, serving alongside John Taylor and James McGuffy. After serving under the 72nd regiment, he married Jane Johnston. In 1839, he served a mission in the Lisburn area. Upon his return, his family immigrated to the United States. He crossed the plains, and settled on the Rio Virgin River in Southern Utah, dying at the age of 99.
