Copyright violation[edit]

Your addition has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text, or images borrowed from other websites, or printed material without a verifiable license; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. 76.248.149.47 (talk) 18:04, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oct 2012[edit]

Hello, I'm Yorkshiresoul. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Kelly Block without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. - Yorkshiresoul (talk) 19:30, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

April 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm Yintan. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made with this edit to Bal Gosal, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks,  Yinta 16:02, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

May 2013[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Corneliu Chisu, you may be blocked from editing. EncyclopediaUpdaticus (talk) 16:48, 15 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Glaisher (talk) 17:13, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours for your disruption caused by edit warring and violation of the three-revert rule at Douglas Kinsella. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Politicians[edit]

Please note that you are not permitted to overwrite Wikipedia's articles about Members of Parliament with their own self-penned and unreferenced biographies. All articles on Wikipedia must follow our content rules about writing tone, article and text formatting, referencing to proper media sources and conflict of interest. They must be written as encyclopedia articles, and are not permitted to read like the kind of thing that the MPs would distribute in their own campaign literature or on their own websites. For example, Corneliu Chisu is to be referred to in the body of the article as "Chisu", not as "Corneliu", as proper encyclopedic writing style refers to people by their surname, not their given name, and no article topic — not Mr. Chisu, not Barack Obama, not Amanda Bynes, not nobody — is ever allowed to dictate or control the content of a Wikipedia article about them.

While we welcome expanded content if the articles are incomplete and corrections if any of the information is wrong, any edits still have to follow our rules. I will review your content and integrate anything into the article that is appropriate, neutral and not a mere repetition of content that's already there, but it needs to be formatted and written according to our rules, and he's also not allowed to demand that any properly sourced information be removed from the article. August 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm The Interior. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Peter Mansbridge, but you didn’t support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. The Interior (Talk) 14:55, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Stephen I of Hungary. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism. Thank you. September 2015[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Shawn in Montreal. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Don Meredith (politician) without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. You're going to have to provide a rationale for why you're blanking this referenced content and discuss on the article's talk page, I'd say. Information icon Hello, I'm Mr. No Funny Nickname. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. March 2017[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Patar knight. I wanted to let you know that some of your recent contributions to Nicola Di Iorio have been reverted or removed because they could seem to be defamatory or libellous. Take a look at our welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. In this case, saying that Mr. Di Iorio was accused of the same actions as his predecessor is a false equivalence, since it's clear that the accusations are significantly less serious. Please read WP:BLPCRIME before writing on this subject in the future. -- Patar knight - chat/contributions 01:17, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Nicola Di Iorio. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. -- Patar knight - chat/contributions 00:00, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello 192.197.82.153, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Pablo Rodríguez (Canadian politician) have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. /wiae /tlk 17:51, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
