This image depicts a unit of currency of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Copyright of the designs of the coins, except where stated below, is the responsibility of the Reserve Bank.
Section 156 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 2021 (the Act) restricts the reproduction of New Zealand banknotes and coins, and all other banknotes and coins if reproduced in New Zealand, to protect the integrity of New Zealand's money, ensure public confidence in the value of currency, and to prevent counterfeiting and imitations. The Reserve Bank has no objection to the reproduction of its currency as complete on-screen or printed images, for design, educational or illustrative purposes, except when it cannot grant permission for detailed reproduction due to intellectual property reasons. The intellectual property exception covers the image of Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand on the obverse of all coins (property of The Crown) and the Pukaki image on the reverse of the 20-cent coin (property of Ngati Whakaue, used by RBNZ with permission). Permission for reproduction is granted provided that:
Any other uses of the New Zealand type of currency, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. Refer to RBNZ's reproduction criteria for more information.
