Guidance and warning on user talk page Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:11, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of page discussion[edit]

Hi Jim, Just following up on your deletion comment of the AfC article for Tonebase, thanks for your feedback there. I'd appreciate it if you could offer some clarity around what specifically the article had wrong? I've updated my own user page to properly include COI and employment information, but you had mentioned a list of things including using a promotional tone, including links outside of the reference section, and not having reliable secondary sources, each of which I would have to disagree with.

I made sure to leave out any text which could appear to have an "angle", although if there is a section you specifically think still communicates this please let me know and I'll get it fixed. There were no urls outside of the reference section, and there were several reputable secondary sources included in the reference section. Here is a list of a few of them:

The references above are some of the most well-known publications in the classical music industry, so I'm not quite sure why they are not sufficient. I respect your administrative role here and would love to just learn a bit more behind what your intentions were, that way we can get the page up to Wikipedia's standards. Thank you! Deletion of perosnal page discussion[edit]

09/06/2024

Hi Jim,

You deleted my personal page which contained important information. Please can I have an explanation as this was a private use page not for the public. Please can you restore my page, and will happily tweak a few things to comply. I think it is unfair to not give warning and simply delete someone else's personal page without telling them, or at least informing them that they need to edit it. If you had politely left a message on the talk page, I would have happily taken on feedback and complied with regulations, but instead you chose to delete my, again personal, page. I would appreciate my page being restored and I would like to hear ways in which I can make it so I can comply with the guidelines.

Ana.

Proof Reading Edith Vernes article[edit]

Hello Jim, yesterday you deleted an article I wrote on Edith Vernes due to a lack of neutrality. I took upon your advice and wrote a second version that is as neutral as possible, and I would love to have your view and advice on the page before submitting it for review. The draft is in my sandbox: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Benjamin_Karaoglan/sandbox Thank you in advance ! --Benjamin Karaoglan (talk) 14:32, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Benjamin Karaoglan, before we go any further, you must disclose your COI as i have already said on your talk page. If you don't do so, you may be blocked. If you're not sure how to do so, ask me Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:14, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Although I see that the text has no acceptable references anyway, so I'll post on your talk page too Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:20, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your prompt answer, I'm not sure how to disclose the COI. If you could kindly redirect me in the correct direction I would highly appreciate it. Thank you in advance --Benjamin Karaoglan (talk) 15:37, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Meaningful Planet article and related efforts[edit]

Hi Jim,

This relates to your message related to the deletion of the article I created around Meaningful Planet and related edits. You are correct in that I do have an interest in Meaningful Planet as it is a company I work for - apologies for not disclosing this; it is my first time actively editing Wikipedia and so am still making sense of the interface.

Though I have a potential 'conflict of interest' I deliberately wrote the article in a neutral and entirely factual tone so that it would provide value to Wikipedia users and avoid any bias or marketing content. If you feel the article does not comply with this, I would greatly appreciate any and all feedback that I would look to fully respect and incorporate? Likewise I'd happily have you assess any draft before publication.

Thanks

G11 - for Draft:Dhionis Domi[edit]

Hi,

We had an edit conflict on Draft:Dhionis Domi processing the G11 request resulting in me being the author of the current draft and the article history with attribution is not present. I was declining the G11 request because though it was spammy, it was not TNT level of spammy and fixable. I removed the all the puffery which resulted in me being marked as the draft creator as you had deleted the article while I was editing. With your agreement, I'd like to restore the article with its proper history for attribution and re-apply my edits to de-spam the draft. Thanks. -- Whpq (talk) 15:13, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Whpq, that's fine with me, wasn't aware, thanks Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:15, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Democratic Fine-tuning[edit]

Democratic Finetuning is an application of moral graphs and constitutional AI. Currently only being applied by OpenAI. The idea is that if more people understand this application of moral graphs they will be able to apply it in their own projects. This is not a promotion of a product. This is the promotion of a scientific method which does not belong to one company.

(talk page watcher) Promotion is promotion though, and it is not what this platform is for. Articles that seek to promote anything - be that an idea, a genre of music, a type of therapeutic massage, whatever - need to be rewritten, or deleted. The draft you've written does indeed look highly promotional - are you connected in some way with the Meaning Alignment Institute? Girth Summit (blether) 12:31, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Girth Summit. ∞∞∞∞∞, the key word is "promotion", which you state above you are doing, doesn't have to be a product, You can promote ideas, like communism, or democratic fine tuning. Your text was an almost completely unreferenced opinion piece with a promotional tone, not an encyclopaedia article. Also, please read conflict of interest and note that any COI must be declared, and that creating the same stuff under a different title to evade scrutiny won't end well Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:36, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have no connection with the Meaning Alignment Institute. Perhaps promote is not the right word as nothing is being sold. I am simply trying to document this application of moral graphs in the hopes that people can educate themselves on it. comment by ∞∞∞∞∞ (talkcontribs) 11:33, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I made a draft page to make corrections and make it more Wikipedia worthy. I was under the impression that as a draft it would be scrutinized once submitted for review. comment by ∞∞∞∞∞ (talkcontribs) 11:36, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not connected to the Meaning Alignment Institute, just interested in the topic comment by ∞∞∞∞∞ (talkcontribs) 11:38, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
∞∞∞∞∞ even if you have no COI, what you posted was highly promotional, gave no indication of notability and had no references. The draft was identical except that it had three supposed references, none of which was a reputable independent third-party source. It's true that drafts have some protection, particularly with regard to references, but you can't expect a different outcome when you post the same text. Since you have no COI, I suggest that you leave this and move on, Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:26, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
