Showpo is an Australian online fashion retailer founded by businesswoman Jane Lu.

[1] Primarily targeted at women aged 25 -35, the company's vision is to become a brand where customers can feel confident and empowered. Showpo takes pride in its dedication to promoting body positivity and inclusivity within its ranges.[2] As of June 2017, Showpo's annual revenue was $30 million,[3] with 35% of sales occurring internationally.[4]

Showpo's CEO Jane Lu has described the company's social media branding as its "biggest competitive advantage".[5] As for 2023, the company boasts an impressive 3.7M+ followers across several social media platforms.[6]

History[edit]

In 2010, Showpo was launched as "Show Pony" by co-founder Jane Lu, initially operating from her parents' garage in Balmain, Sydney.[7] Three months after launch, the company opened a bricks and mortar store in Broadway in Sydney, followed by a kiosk in Pitt St Westfield in August 2011.[8] In 2012, Showpo had its first million-dollar month with just four staff.[9] Showpo closed its profitable bricks and mortar stores in 2013 to focus its business solely online.[10] In 2014, the company turned over $10 million in sales and by 2017 it had reached a run rate of $30 million.[11]

Jane Lu has also pushed Showpo into having an on-going involvement with Australian charity, The Hunger Project, with the first project launching November 2017. Using Showpo’s global reach Lu uses the brand as a platform to create a loungewear collection every year, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Due to the company's considerable growth, in 2022, CEO Jane Lu decided to introduce its second in-house label, Amelie The Label This label was created with the intention of focusing on more luxe and consciously designed collections using natural plant-based fibres.

In August 2022, Showpo decided to pair up with Meta in an industry-first trial to test AI 3D Models and diversity the range of models in order to focus on inclusivity.

Today, Showpo continues taking pride in its dedication to promoting body positivity and inclusivity within its ranges. Jane’s focus for the brand is to create an environment where customers can feel confident and empowered. Showpo’s sizing ranges from an AU 4 (US 0) and goes all the way up to an AU 20 (US 16) to showcase the brand's mission of inclusivity. In 2022, Showpo partnered with curve influencer Riley Hemson to create a collection catered to both plus-size and regular sized customers.
