"Major engagements"[edit]

The reason I had "major engagements in bold" on the Second Sino-Japanese War campaignbox was that they were the 22 battles officially designated as "major battles" by the ROC. I'm not sure about the Civil War, but AFAIK there is no such system to classify Civil War battles with. Just so whoever created this knows. -- Миборовский 20:39, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the Chinese government do have an official assessment on the "major" engagements of the Civil War, which is the "Three Major Campaigns 三大戰役" (This concept is applied by the ROC government as well with different names.) OK thanks for the info. -- Миборовский 01:22, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Split in two[edit]

I think the distinction will probably be important enough for the campaignbox to be splitted in two. Will do... AQu01rius (User • Talk) 17:28, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reduced excessive length[edit]

In comparison to other campaign boxes (American Civil War, Russian Civil War, World War Two), this was excessively long to the point where it's impossible to navigate comfortably. The point of a campaignbox is not to list every engagement (or even just the major ones) but to direct readers to pages on the major campaigns of the war. I've therefore considerably reduced the size of the list to be just the major campaigns. What are really needed, though, are pages on the major theaters of operation during the war (for example, a page summarizing all of the minor uprisings that took place following the Shanghai massacre).
