Should we mention the architecture?[edit]

Seems like excessive detail to me; per WP:INDISCRIMINATE, is there encyclopedic context or relevance? It's neither prominent in Apple's marketing, nor in secondary sources. Inclusion seems arbitrary. DFlhb (talk) 04:13, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As Apple show little sign of switching to any flavor of x86 - or to RISC-V - for iPhones in the near future, the only thing the architecture indictes is whether 64-bit apps are supported. As they've been supported for a while, and as 32-bit apps haven't been supported recently, that may not be relevant. Guy Harris (talk) 09:37, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think there is notability regarding the processor architecture, but I'm not sure if this is the best place to mention it. A google search turns up at least 7 sources covering the addition of 64-bit support in iOS 7 and at least 6 sources (including the BBC) covering the removal of 32-bit support in iOS 11. For now, I'll add information about the addition of 64-bit support to the iOS 7 article, as it's missing from there.Herbfur (Eric, He/Him) (talk) 03:27, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
