Firearm Proposed Bill[edit]

(moved from article exactly as below) TangoSierra7 (talk) 17:07, 26 May 2008 (UTC) The proposed legislation [1] appeared less about 'safety' than about regulation. The private sale of firearms between individuals is legal in the majority of states; additionally, Illinois requires the seller to verify that the recipient has a valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card (FOID) and maintain records of the sale for ten years.Ref: [2][reply]

A staunch supporter of many so-called "gun control" bills for the citizens of Illinois, he can carry a concealed firearm as an Illinois Law Enforcement Officer; despite this, he calls the idea of ordinary citizens being able to lawfully carry concealed firearms "ridiculous". [3]

Despite his support of "gun control", his legislation usually provides exemptions for Law Enforcement Officers. [4]

He also serves as an "advisor" to the Illinois Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.[5] TangoSierra7 (talk) 17:07, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
