Availability of "Where's Poppa?"[edit]

First, an apology. I'd never added anything to Wikipedia before, and I posted a question about "Where's Poppa" in the article itself. That edit has since been backed out, and it was suggested that I ask my question here. I meant no disrespect - please chalk that up to my inexperience.

Here's my question - why is the movie "Where's Poppa?" almost entirely unavailable. I found a torrent for it, but no DVD or any other format I could purchase. This seems really strange to me. You can find just about anything on Amazon, but the only hits for this movie are some listings for $75 and more - like it's some collector's item.

"Going Ape"[edit]

It seems that every time you see the film "Where's Poppa?" mentioned or reviewed in print, a line like "you may have seen it as Going Ape" (as in ref #1, the TCM page link) is always included--with no source. No example of when or where this was the case. I saw this film when it was first released and was alive when it was a phenomena--it ran for months, even years, at some theaters. Where's Poppa? was cult right out of the gate, as was the Robert Klane novel (also called Where's Poppa?). But I've never in multiple decades, going all the way back, heard of it being called "Going Ape". Any comments on this? Where does this come from? Source?
