Smilies, take two
I didn't add the smilies to your graphical display. I added them to the top of your edit window. The way to use them is to click on "edit this page" and then copy and paste the image link that you want to insert in a message.
I've downloaded Unfreez, a free alternative. I don't think you would mind if I put my name on the page, would you? - PatricknoddyTALK (reply here)|HISTORY 11:56, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
By 'page', do you mean the description on Template:Qxz-ads? If you create and upload an ad, then you can add your username to the list of people who've created ads. Though you may want to check with me after uploading it, so I can make sure the template itself is changed properly (it's a little complex). Thanks – Gurch 19:29, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Indeed you did. This irritating thing called "real life" (don't know if you've heard of it) tends to get in the way of such things; I have at least four others to do and I will make yours when I have time. I have made an ad for you already, remember – Gurch 20:58, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Encycloboxes
Hi Patricknoddy,
I recently noticed your encycloboxes. While I think it is a very nice idea, I just want to let you know that the Wikipedia logo probably shouldn't be used. Userbox policy states that all fair-use (copyrighted) images are not to appear in any userboxes. If you want, there's a plethora of Wikipedia icons at Commons to explore. Cheers! +A.0u 04:47, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, but just because it's in Commons doesn't mean its a free image. The copyright notice on the image description page clearly states: "Use of the Wikimedia logo is subject to the Wikimedia visual identity guidelines and requires permission." Although there have been some instances in which the Wikipedia logo have appeared in userboxes, it is probably best to adhere to policy. This is merely a suggestion, though. +A.0u 23:51, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
True. But can policy be compromised? As I've said, that's only a suggestion; it's up to you, since you created the encycloboxes. +A.0u 23:52, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, that policy probably isn't so strictly enforced anyway. +A.0u 23:55, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi. The rest of the Trek categories have been added to make this a group nomination. Thought you would like to know. - jc37 08:47, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
An editor has nominated List of Unicode characters, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Unicode characters and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Jayden54Bot 18:33, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Re: potd
The reason we have one here is so people can upload useful images for articles. But if we create a sister at commons, it will not go in articles, it will just sit on the commons. Though, I do agree that we should upload the images there so we can use them on any project. GeorgeMoney (talk) 00:04, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, and welcome to the Baseball Wikiproject! We are a group of editors who love the sport of baseball and work to improve Wikipedia's coverage of this sport.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
Starting some new articles? Please add {{Baseball-WikiProject}} to the talk page of the article.
If you have any ideas you would like to share or if there is any way your fellow baseball editors can help you, please feel free to ask on the project talk page.

Request for adminship
The issue, Patrick, is that you chose to tag Otho Prior-Palmer for speedy deletion on grounds that it did not assert notability. The fact that you were operating a tool does not remove your responsibility for the edit. I still would like you to explain how you came to think that that article does not assert the notability of its subject, who was a Member of Parliament for 19 years? Especially given the fact that the article is thoroughly referenced?
The point I am making is that it is clear that the tag was inappropriate and I hope you would acknowledge that you made a mistake when you put it on. As I say, knowing when you have made a mistake and recognising it is a sign of maturity and strength. Sam Blacketer 20:24, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
What did you mean by this? Do you mean that it's ok for you to retaliate by opposing Sam on his RfA? You should do the honorable thing and just strike out your comment. Pascal.Tesson 20:44, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps I over-reacted, but there have been many cases with people posting Celestia renderings of various objects, despite these renderings having no scientific validity. That said, your reaction seems rather extreme to me: I was merely removing an inaccuracy. See Talk:Wolf 359 for a longer discussion. Michaelbusch 21:40, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Patricknoddy, you have reverted Wolf 359 4 times with 24 hours, which exceeds the limit set by WP:3RR. The material you were reverting was clearny not vandalism, so I have blocked your account for 24 hours. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 21:53, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
In case you hadn't noticed... that image of Wolf 359 in Celestia is EXACTLY THE SAME as the image of ANY OTHER star in that program as they all use the same graphic display. So putting in the article is completely redundant. Cyberia23 04:33, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Wikiproject Chattanooga was deleted at the above MfD, because of its redundancy with the "silly task force", as you call it. After deletion, the redirect seemed the most reasonable thing to do; it was also consistent with the MfD debate. Best wishes, Xoloz 16:05, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

This is the first issue of WikiProject Germany's newsletter. The newsletter is intended to help all members of the project to keep up with new developments and coordinate new collaborative efforts.
Other areas where you can help
Assessment requests: Some open Requests for assessment need to be answered. To see new assessment requests as they come in, you can watchlist the assessment page.
More task forces and subprojects: As this WikiProject covers a very large topic area, it is helpful to add more task forces that focus on specific aspects of Germany. Currently, we have a Mainz task force, a Munich subproject and some joint task forces with other WikiProjects. Any project member is invited to start a new task force. Suggestions for possible topics:
Transportation in Germany
German politics (the political system of Germany and the biographies of its politicians)
Categorization: Uncategorized Germany stubs need to be categorized
Project news
Criteria for B-Class status: The assessment criteria for B-Class have been changed. {{WikiProject Germany}} template now has 5 switches, B-Class-1 through B-Class-5 that correspond to 5 easily checked criteria that an article should meet to be assessed as B-Class. The advantage of this system is that now there is a clear boundary between Start-Class and B-Class articles. Authors of articles that were assessed as Start-Class now get more direct feedback what they should improve to attain a B-Class rating.
All of our B-Class, Start-Class and Stub-Class articles now need to be checked whether they meet any of the B-Class criteria. This is a major effort, and we need your help! If you want to help, but don't know how, please post at the project talkpage.
Cities and municipalities task force
A task force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities has been started and is looking for help.

Friendly
I wonder why I wasn't included as "friendly", since I am your adoptee.
I already cut several people of the list. Not because they're not friendly but because of space constraints. If I have too many people on the list, the right bar will cause a conflict with the boxes on the left and not display correctly. You are however mentioned in my bio. As for archiving, I tend to do that manually. -- Mgm|(talk) 08:18, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Locos Grill and Pub
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Locos Grill and Pub, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hi Patricknoddy/Archive 2, as a WikiProject Scotland participant, please check out this this thread and consider adding the bot results page to your watchlist so we can manually update the New Articles page. How do you create a infobox and how do they work?
Either to add an infobox to an article, or to create an entirely new kind of infobox, it's easiest to copy the code from an existing article or infobox. They work using Wikipedia's template system; see Help:Template. For more information about infoboxes specifically, see Help:Infobox. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Franchise 500, by Coren (talk·contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Franchise 500 fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:
G11 - Appears to have been created as an excuse for the major linkspam by User:VladimirGotShot and his sock puppets. External links point to referal business the sockmaster is posting from.

Miami-area special project: Your input needed!
Dear Patricknoddy,
You appear to be active in WikiProject Miami, or have contributed a lot recently to Miami-related articles. I would like to invite you to contribute your opinions on a grant proposal for a project that may provide unique and helpful resources for Wikipedia in Miami.
Over the last six months, Wikipedia and Wikinews have been discussing a project proposal with the Knight Foundation which could create a new type of an environment for locally-oriented encyclopedic and news content. The general idea involves an official sanctioning of a local Wiki community in one or two charter areas, one of them being Miami. The Wiki community would be empowered to cover all things Miami -- even things that normally would not pass notability restrictions -- and cover both encyclopedic information as well as current events in the South Florida community. The proposal may even involve the creation of a physical "wiki space": some sort of a local room or office to coordinate efforts and provide community members with a place to create and edit articles.
I'm working on formalizing the proposal, and would like to invite you and other Miami contributors to a project brainstorming session via chat. The chat will take place this Saturday, July 14th, at 12 noon Eastern Time (9am Pacific). If enough people can't make it there will be an additional repeat meeting at some later time.
The online meeting will happen using IRC on the channel #wikipedia-miami -- you can use your own chat client or the use this handy link to join the chat. Please don't forget to provide your username when you log into chat.
I look forward to talking with you. Thanks! -- IlyaHaykinson 04:26, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Venue suggestion needed for a meet-up in Yuen Long
Dear: Patricknoddy/Archive 2 :
In the past meet-ups, we always had our meeting in the centre of Kowloon, either Kowloon Tong or Mong Kok. However, apart from these places, I am sure that alternative venues in other region would be suitable.
This is the time for your suggestion! According to some discussion on Chinese Wikipedia, from August of 2007, the Hong Kong Wikimedians’ meet-up would be held in all districts of Hong Kong in a circulation basis.
Here is the tentative information of the first meet-up:
The community would request for ideas of where we should hold the meet-up , in order to have a better decision. If you have any good ideas, don’t hesitate to give your opinions, million thanks!

Military history WikiProject coordinator selection
In order to encourage more participation, and to help people find a specific area in which they are more able to help out, we have organized taskforces at WikiProject Japan. Please visit the Participants page and update the list with the taskforces in which you wish to participate. Links to all the taskforces are found at the top of the list of participants.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for helping out! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 01:05, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
An important letter
Dear roads editor,
You may have noticed some changes at WP:USRD lately. Some of them, like the cleanup templates and the stub templates, have been astounding and great. Unfortunately, others have been disturbing.
This has become evidenced by the departure of a few prominent editors at USRD, a few RFC's, and much fighting among USRD editors.
After the second RFC, many of us found the opportunity to take a step away from Wikipedia for a while--as a self-imposed wikibreak, or possibly on vacation.
The result of such introspection was that many of us were placing ourselves in a "walled garden" and on a self-imposed pedestal of authority over the roads department. Also, we were being hostile to a few users who were not agreeing with us.
In fact, IRC has been the main incarnation of this "walled garden." Decisions have been made there to conduct grudges and prejudices against a few valued USRD users with poor justification.
For this, we have come to apologize. We have come to ask your forgiveness.
In addition to this, we hope to work as one USRD team from now on and to encourage cooperation instead of the promotion of interests.
All users are welcome to collaborate on IRC, the newsletter, or anywhere else at USRD.
In the future, please feel free to approach us about any issues you may have.

WikiProject Albania merger
Hi, sorry to bother you. You are listed as a member of WikiProject Albania. That project was proposed to be merged with WikiProject Southern Europe as a taskforce. No replies from your project was heard but the merger has still not taken place. WikiProject Southern Europe may now be taken over by the proposed WikiProject Europe - hence WikiProject Albania would become a taskforce of that Project. If you support or object to that, or becoming part of SEUROPE, please state them soon to me or on WP:SEUROPE's talk page. Thanks for your time. - J Logant: 20:18, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

USRD Inactivity check and news report
Hello, Patricknoddy. We had a few urgent matters to communicate to you:
There are important discussions taking place at WT:USRD relating to whether WP:USRD, WP:HWY, or the state projects should hold the "power" in the roads projects.

The three-month long Summer Assessment Drive, organized by Psychless, was a huge success! It ran from June 1 – September 1, and reduced the backlog of unassessed articles from 113,385 to 56,237. In all, over 100,000 articles were assessed. Over 60 people contributed in some way.
A barnstar has been created for exceptional work on Wikipedia biographies and for assisting the project. The Biography Barnstar is listed with the other WikiProject awards and can be awarded easily with a template. See the template page for more details.
The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below)
We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future.
This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page
