I came across this award reviewing a draft and it appears to be a notable award mentioned in several articles. Thought you might be interested in creating an article. See also es:Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. S0091 (talk) 16:09, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hm, it has an entry in 8 language wikis. Definitely seems worth investigating, thanks! Valereee (talk) 17:37, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Recognition of a clever path[edit]

The Salamander Tunnel award
For creative thinking on a content issue that really pulled together the unique networking advantages of Wikipedia. CMD (talk) 14:00, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, thank you! I was amazed how fast that bore fruit! Valereee (talk) 15:28, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Me too, and I'm not entirely sure how you did it. CMD (talk) 14:14, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
CMD, I went to Amherst, Mass on Commons and just started paging through, looking for people who'd uploaded multiple photos in that category, then pinged to the DYK discussion the ones who'd also edited en.wiki recently. Valereee (talk) 14:39, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Amazing, I assumed you'd found some Petscan trick. CMD (talk) 01:52, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And here I thought I was relatively famous for being the most tech-impaired editor of my general level of experience. Valereee (talk) 10:53, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thought this may interest you![edit]

Hello Valereee, I ran across the talk page for Struthman (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) and figured it may be worth pointing out to an admin rather than just blanking it myself, for obvious reasons.

Thanks! Awshort (talk) 08:29, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And Derekforest985 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), please.

Non-XC edits re: Arab–Israeli conflict[edit]

Hi Valereee, I see you blocked (and unblocked) User:Dag21902190 last month. They were warned on 8 June about WP:PIA and specifically the WP:XC restriction. Today, I reverted their edits at Ofer Winter because they were not extended-confirmed, and the edits were related to the Arab–Israeli conflict. I have not reviewed their other edits, but wanted to flag this. Wracking talk! 18:15, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I’d like you to expand on this, please. What did I write that you didn’t like? Everything was sourced, and part of the content were direct quotes. Dag21902190 (talk) 18:46, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’d like to note that you reverted his profile to non-current information. He is no longer a member of the IDF, and you deleted all information about his recent and controversial release from the military. It has been extremely notable in Israel, and everyone is discussing it. Your reverting privileges should be re-examined. Dag21902190 (talk) 18:50, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Was this message sent because I only have 488 edits, not 500 yet? That makes more sense. Sorry for not understanding. I encourage you to change the edits back. It is very relevant. Dag21902190 (talk) 18:55, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like the two of you have worked this out? Yes, Dag, until you have 500 edits + 30 days, you can't edit in that space. Be aware that this is just an attempt to
  1. minimize disruption
  2. keep you out of trouble
You are still a very new editor, and editing in that subject area is fraught. The fact you go from 499>500 edits does not really do much to ensure you know how to keep yourself out of trouble. Listen closely when people discuss your edits with you. Valereee (talk) 19:21, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will not undo my revert, as I think there are other problems with your changes. Phrasing like triggering an uproar in many parts of Israeli society, immense backlash, shockingly released, conveyed his continued love for the IDF is weakly sourced and/or stretches the limits of maintaining a neutral and encyclopedic tone. The quotes added are numerous and lengthy, including a lengthy quote in the lead. I'll leave a note at WT:ISRAEL to see if someone else will step in. I don't have the bandwidth for this. Wracking talk! 20:49, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First off, there has been immense backlash and uproar in parts of Israeli society since he was released, the sources I provide will say the same exact thing. And secondly, the quote that was provided immediately after I wrote that he conveyed his love for the IDF, is literally a direct quote of him conveying his love for the IDF. And it was in fact the first speech he gave after getting released. Weird… why are you trying to hide these things in America? Dag21902190 (talk) 21:28, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This has been one of the biggest scandals in Israeli military history. The backlash is currently going on, at this very moment. However, because of you, there is nothing on Winter’s Wikipedia page about it. Seems odd. If you deleted my work at least add your own work. Dag21902190 (talk) 21:33, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dag21902190, I'm going to warn you again that you need to be very careful in this topic area. It is fraught, and I'm not sure you're understanding what I mean when I say that. It's really not a good area for new editors to be working in. Valereee (talk) 22:06, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, I won’t touch these kind of topics until more established. Clearly a touchy area, and requires more understanding of this platform/community. Thanks for the guidance, Valeree. Dag21902190 (talk) 23:01, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
