Ossanda Líber João Filipe Cruz dos Santos (born 15 September 1977) is a Portuguese politician of Angolan descent.[1] She is the founder and current President of Nova Direita, a conservative political party.

She was a candidate for Mayor of Lisbon in the 2021 local election, a candidate in the European constituency in the 2022 legislative elections, and was vice-president of the Alliance party.

Biography[edit]

Liber was born in the Angolan capital Luanda in 1977.[2] She is a citizen of Portugal, Angola and France.[3]

She was an unsuccessful candidate Mayor of Lisbon and for Lisbon City Council in the 2021 local election, representing the civic movement "Somos Todos Lisboa".[4][5]

In April 2022, Ossanda Líber established a new party, Nova Direita.[6] It was registered by the Constitutional Court on January 9, 2024. The party contested the 2024 Portuguese legislative election but won no seats.[7]

In April 2024, she spoke at the National Conservatism Conference.[8][non-primary source needed]
