Would looking at Magnificat help? Hundreds of musical setting of the original song attributed to Mary's exist. The background, including being a daily prayer in several churches, can't be explained in every article. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:35, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It is not a song about Mary. It is a song that Mary sang, according to the Gospel of Luke. How would you word that? - Would you add "the capital of France" to every mentioning of Paris? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:11, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Paris" is a well-known word that would likely be recognized by 80% of the world's population, and therefore does not require explanation. "Magnificat" is a word that I suspect less than 1% of the population would recognize, and therefore does require explanation. And I would explain it precisely as was done a few lines earlier. Paris is such a well-known word that it is not even linked. Magnificat has a link, for those who don't. I wont speculate how many of "the population" know Magnificat (most Latin Americans will know, + those in England who grew up with daily evensong), but I suspect that almost every reader interested in the composition of a 21st-century composer will know the word. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:11, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
