Untitled[edit]

I have extended the previous stub to a fully-fledged article. I acknowledge my debt with my English teacher, Ellen, for a very encouraging review process. The intro could be a little more accesible to the non-expert. A few more links to some of the basic info needed in order to even begin to understand would be helpful right at the beginning. I have removed the wikify tag after some basic fixes.Nihola (talk) 04:26, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Portions of this article lifted?[edit]

Some portions of this article seem to have been pasted in (based on their strange appearance in edit mode). Because of the appearance I decided to do a quick text search. I found that some of this article seems to be pasted from other articles. For instance, this section of the article -

Well, here's a weird one. :) Yes, they do look to be pasted in and I have verified duplication of content, but they were entered in May 2008. The paper above was submitted in September 2008 and not published until 2009. I also found content match to this December 2009 paper. I think the answer here lies at User:SeineRiver, where the contributor of that content claims to work under Dr. Ong Yew Soon, who is cited as author in all content matches I've found. Ordinarily, we would write for verification in this case, but the content seems to have been published here first. If it was, there's no copyright concern here; Depending on the relationship between Dr. Ong Yew Soon and his PhD student, the use in subsequent publications is also likely to be perfectly fine, since our contributors do not relinquish copyright to what they place here.

I'm going to remove the tag, as I have failed to find any text matches to publications that predate the May 2008 publication of the content here. If a source is found that predates that use, we'll have to treat as we do any other copyright suspect material, by requesting an official donation of the content. Sections or pages for Lamarckian and Baldwinian learning?[edit]

I don't see any Lamarckian learning on wiki at all and all I can find is the Baldwin effect, which I think should be expanded to discuss it as a learning process. Remarks on revisions and additions from February 2023[edit]

Since most implementations of the memetic approach are done with the help of EAs, an appropriately adapted pseudocode has been added. A section on the theoretical rationale for MAs has also been added.

The template on Wikipedia's quality standards that section headings should not be phrased as questions has been removed because the headings have been changed. I don't think it looks any better now, though. The recommendation may be appropriate in many cases, but what better wording for questions to be decided than questions?
