Footnotes[edit]

Footnotes in short bios are nonsense, since usually all info is the same in all sources or a single source is used, and it is not helpful to add the same five sources in every line after every half sentence. Only controversial or unusual content should always be footnoted. In THIS particular case, the sources are contradictory, and the exact content of the conflicting statements is added at each source. There can not be any doubt about what the sources say, it remains however doubtful which is the correct info. The birthdate seems to be June 1785, not 1786. It is a common mistake which occurs when somebody reading the statement "died 1830, aged 44" counts back and arrives at 1786. However, if born in June 1785, and dead in February 1830, he would be 44 too. The historian believes in the more accurate info with the month. It is impossible to ascertain why there is conflicting info on his birthplace, but Conway seems to be correct, it is the place where his father practiced medecine.
