How did you get your profile page to link to other languages? MWQs (talk) 23:03, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's so long ago I'd forgotten I did it let alone how to do it. For what it's worth I asked Chat GPT, whether it actually works I don't know but it might be a good place to start.
==== How to Link to Your User Page in Other Languages ====
To link to your user page in other languages, such as French, follow these steps:
===== Step-by-Step Guide =====
  1. Log in to Wikipedia:
    • Ensure you are logged into your Wikipedia account.
  2. Navigate to Your User Page:
  3. Edit Your User Page:
    • Click the "Edit" button at the top of your user page.
  4. Insert Interwiki Link:
    • To link to your user page in French Wikipedia, you need to add an interwiki link. Use the following syntax:
    [[fr:Utilisateur:InsertUserNameHere]]
  5. Save the Changes:
    • After adding the interwiki link, scroll down and click the "Save changes" button.
===== Example =====
Here’s an example of how your user page content might look after adding the interwiki link:

:==== Welcome to My User Page ==== :This is the user page of InsertUserNameHere. :[[fr:Utilisateur:InsertUserNameHere]] :

===== Verification =====
To verify if the link is working:
  1. Go to the Sidebar:
    • After saving the changes, look at the sidebar on the left side of your user page.
  2. Check the Languages Section:
    • You should see a link under the "Languages" section that points to the French version of your user page.
By following these steps, you can link to your user page in other languages on Wikipedia, making it easier for users to find your page in different language versions of Wikipedia. JASpencer (talk) 13:16, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
