HD 114533 (HR 4976) is a solitary star in the southern circumpolar constellation Chamaeleon. It has an apparent magnitude of 5.84,[2] allowing it to be viewed with the naked eye under ideal conditions. Located approximately 2,100 light years away,[1] the object is approaching the Solar System with a heliocentric radial velocity of about −18 km/s.[6]

This is a F[4] or G-type supergiant[4] with 3.78 times the mass of the Sun[8] and 66.92 times the radius of the Sun.[9] It shines at 861 L from its enlarged photosphere at an effective temperature of 4,765 K,[10] giving it an orange yellow glow. HD 114533 is metal deficient due to a metallicity only 38% that of the Sun[8] and spins modestly with a projected rotational velocity of 9.2 km/s.[11]
