Echte Wagner, a German company, curated a series of imaginative collectible cards during the early 20th century. Originating as margarine manufacturers, Echte Wagner extensively disseminated these trade cards across Central Europe. The artwork showcases extraordinary beauty, coupled with technology that embodies remarkable ingenuity, all while avoiding undue speculation. These illustrations encompass wireless phones, monorails, rockets, highways, steamers, nuclear-powered cars, private aircrafts, and spaceships.

Vision of the Future: 1930 Advertising Cards

In 1930, under the banner of True Wagner Margarine, a line of sticker sets was introduced for inclusion in a book. Notably, the book contained a captivating segment labeled "Future Fantasy," devoid of any credited author or artist information.[1][2] The work, titled 'Echte Wagner Margarine Album Nr. 3, Serien 12 und 13' (Genuine Wagner Margarine Album No. 3, Series 12 and 13), was published in Elmshorn, Holstein, Germany.[3][4]

The card presents a 1930 futuristic vision, including concepts like the 'Wireless Personal Phone and Television.' On the reverse side, it describes how individuals have their own transmitters and receivers, facilitating communication through specific wavelengths with acquaintances.[3] The advancement in television technology enables real-time conversations and the ability to see friends while on the call. The portable transmitter and receiver are contained within a box similar in size to a camera.[3][5] These illustrations depict a range of elements including wireless phones, monorails, rockets, highways, steamers, nuclear-powered cars, and spaceships.[4][5][6]
