Houbing Herbert Song is an Associate Professor of Information Systems[1] at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in Baltimore, USA. He gained a Ph.D., Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2012.[2]

Song was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)[3] in 2023[4] for contributions to big data analytics and integration of AI with Internet of Things. In 2022 he was named an Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Distinguished Member for Outstanding Scientific Contributions to Computing.[5]

Since 2021, Song has been a Highly Cited Researcher[6] identified by Clarivate/Web of Science. In 2022, Song was awarded the Rising Star of Science[7] Award by Research.com. In 2023, Song was awarded 2023 AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar[8] Award Honorable Mention in Internet of Things by AMiner. In 2023, Song was awarded the 2021 Harry Rowe Mimno Award by the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society.[9]
