Misumenoides formosipes is a species of crab spider. The species' common name is red banded crab spider.

Description

The female spider is larger than the male. The length of females are 5-11.3mm and the length of males are 2.5-3.2mm. The color pattern of the female varies while the body is white to yellowish. The color pattern for males are similar to females. The spider can be found throughout the United States.[1] Males search for sedentary females within a heterogeneous habitat.[2] The spider has strong front legs which are used to seize prey.[3]
