Henochilus wheatlandii is a species of characin endemic to Brazil where it is found in the Mucuri and Doce Rivers.

It is the only species in its genus. It is recorded to be an endangered species, and it was considered to be an endangered species for about a century. [1] This species is known to feed on plants. [2] The entire species is native and restricted to the higher Santo Antonio river basin. [3] The average length of an unsexed male is about 41.3 centimeters or 16.3 inches. They are known to be found in freshwater within a tropical climate. [4] This species lives in a pelagic habitat, and this means that they live in the open ocean. There is no information that has been recorded that states at what depth this species lives. [5]
