The Altai-Sayan region refers to an area of central Asia proximate to the Altai Mountains and the Sayan Mountains.

The Altai-Sayan region, or the related phrase "Altai-Sayan", has been the focus of various types of science and scholarship:

  • Geneticists speak of the Altai-Sayan region when referring to certaub human populations from that region.[1]
  • Geologists describe the Altai-Sayan region as the site of a Paleo-Asian Ocean[2]
  • Historians refer to the Altai-Sayan peoples[3]
