Ameenah Gurib-Fakim (born October 17, 1959) is a Mauritian Biodiversity Scientist. She is the Managing Director of CIDP Research & Innovation. In 2015, she was brought the public's attention after her nomination as the succeeding President of Mauritius, she is expected to be inaugurated as the sixth President on the 1st of June 2015.[1]

  • 2008: Elevated to the Order of the ‘Commander of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean’ by the Government of Mauritius
  • 2008: Awarded the ‘Emma Award’ by Bank One Ltd. ‘For Outstanding achievement and accomplishment’
  • 2009: Laureate for the CTA/NEPAD/AGRA/RUFORUM for ‘African Women in Science’
  • 2009: Elevated to the Order of the ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques’ Government of France
