Snap legislative election are set to be held in Kazakhstan in first half on 2023 to elect the members of the Majilis.[1][2] These are the first parliamentary elections after the events of January 2022.
Background
Early presidential and parliamentary elections were proposed by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on 1 September 2022, along with his declarations of amnesty for the participants in the January events.[3][4] Earlier, Tokayev said that the role of the parliament in the country would be strengthened.[5]
