Ahmadpur is a city and a municipal council in Latur District in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is a taluk headquarters town situated 50 km north of Udgir, in Latur District. Chakur is 27 km south-west while Nanded is 66 km north-east.
The major educational institutes in the city include Mahatma Gandhi College, Bal-Bhagwan Education Society and Vichar Vikas Mandal Education Society. Balasaheb Jadhav, Babasaheb Patil, Vinayakrao Jadhav, Babruvan Khandade are the chief political leaders of Ahmedpur taluka. Now Babasaheb Patil is the M.L.A. & M.C. member of S.R.T.M.University, Nanded. Babruvan Khandade are the former M.L.A. of Ahmedpur taluka. The big temple of Khandoba is at Kokanga; it is famous for Khandoba fair. Kokanga is a Role model Grampanchayat in Ahmedpur taluka. Khandali village Alampharbhu temple is famous in taluka. Ahmadpur taluka fall in drought region Parmeshwar Poul is applying Rainwater Harvesting water conservation method to develop there water resource.
Gurdwara Sachkhand and Nanded Fort, Siddheswar Temple, the temples of Ramlingeswar, Bhuteswar and Keshavraj and the Darga of Surat Shahvalli at Latur, and the Bidar fort, Solah Khamba Masjid and Bahamani Tombs at Bidar are some tourist sites around.
Nearest airport in Maharashtra is Latur which is 60 km away. Chakur, Latur, and Udgir Railway Station serve Ahmadpur.

As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Ahmadpur had a population of 35,786. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Ahmadpur has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 58% of the males and 42% of females literate. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
