Prince Alexandre of Mérode (born May 24, 1934 in Etterbeek, Belgium - died November 19 in Brussels, 2002) was a member of the Belgian princely House of Merode.

Prins Alexandre de Merode entered as member of the IOC from 1964 to 2002. He replaced Prince Albert of Belgium ( presently King of Belgium, Albert II).He joined the executive committee from 1980 to 1990 en was Vice-President of tne IOC from 1986 to 1990 and from 1994 to 1998.

He has also been the chairman of the Medical commission from 1967 to 2002. Despite a few anglo-Saxon media that made criticism of Merode's position without real reasons,the IOC has always maintained his total trust in him up to his death.His ethics in sport never changed.

Prins Alexander was president of Sportel Monaco from 1994 until 2002.

He was president of Association Royale des Demeures Historiques et Jardins de Belgique from 1979 to 2002.

He was president of various sports federations in the world.

He was president of Centre d'Œuvre de Merode in Brussels from 1980 to 2002.

En 1989 he bought Solre-sur-Sambre Kastel in Belgium, a previous family property that was owned by the de Merode family for 250 years.
