She holds the Guinness World Record for the oldest nun, surpassing the 112 years and 65 days mark set by Augustine Teissier (Sister Julia) of France.[1] She became the oldest living person in Canada from the death of Evangeline Saulnier on March 19, 2002, until her own death 2 years and 8 months later.

Samson was born on February 27, 1891 in River Bourgeois, Nova Scotia, the daughter of Thomas and Philomène (Bourque) Samson.[2] She entered the convent and took her vows in 1917.[3]

Death

She died on November 29, 2004 at the Maison Provinciale des Filles de Jésus care home in Moncton, New Brunswick.[1] Upon her death, fellow 113-year-old Julie Winnefred Bertrand took her place as the oldest living Canadian.[3]
