Ashley Jackson is Professor of Imperial and Military History in the Defence Studies Department at King's College London, and a Visiting Fellow of Kellogg College, University of Oxford. Jackson specialises in British imperial and military history and has a regional interest in sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean region.[1]

Jackson gained his master's degree at New College, Oxford in 1993 and his doctorate in 1996. He was a research fellow at Mansfield College, Oxford, a lecturer in Imperial and Commonwealth History at Oxford Brookes University and in, 2004, he joined KCL's Defence Studies Department.[1]
