Blood Coven

The Blood Coven series consists of six fantasy/romance novels by Mari Mancusi. It follows the lives of the twins Sunshine McDonald and Rayne McDonald. "Sunny" is a blond handsome girl who is popular in school, while Rayne is a rebellious girl with few friends. The series starts when Rayne should become a vampire but instead Sunny is bitten.

The first and the fourth book are told from Sunny’s point of view, and the others from Rayne’s point of view. The books are written in different styles. For example, the second book is written as blog entries with answers from different users.

Plot overview

Boys That Bite

When Sunny McDonald gets dragged to Club Fang by her twin sister Rayne, she doesn't expect to find anything besides a bunch of Goth kids playing at being vampires. But when some guy mistakes Sunny for her dark-side-loving sister and bites her on the neck, she finds out that his fangs are real—and deadly.

Now, Sunny has less than a week to figure out how to reverse the bite, or else she's going to end up as the perpetually undead. And not only will she be a vampire, she'll also be bonded to Magnus—the bloodsucker who bit her—forever.

Stake That

Not only is Rayne still human but she also has to work for the other side, “Slayer Inc”. She totally does not want to be a slayer since her dream is to become a vampire. She gets a mission to stop the insane Vampire Maverick, who wants to take over the local coven and by doing so, weakens all the other Vamps in line to be the next leader. The coven leader Magnus orders his general Jareth to work together with Rayne to save his coven from losses but Jareth bears a personal hatred towards Slayer Inc. which he transfers on to Rayne. Later in the story Rayne is infected by the virus that has been weakening the Vampires and all humans that are infected die. On her dying day Jareth turns her into a vampire where they become Blood mates and pronounce their love for one another and every one is shocked since the hated each other to begin with. Also she stop writing in her blog around the end and starts writing in a diary since some people make rude comments on it.

Girls That Growl

Now that Rayne is an official blood coven member she assmues her vampire slaying days are over. Sure she doesn't have any special vampire powers thanks to a mutated blood virus but now she and Jareth can go out in the sunshine which is a pretty good trade. But just when Rayne is starting to enjoy her afterlife she is contacted by Slayer Inc. and they give her a new mission. It seems that one of her high-school football team player has disappeared and the powers that be think that one of more than one of the cheerleaders did it. Now Rayne has to stop all of the cheerleaders before one of them sinks their teeth into someone else.

Bad Blood

Sunny McDonald is in the ultimate forbidden relationship. Her boyfriend is Magnus, leader of the blood-coven and a vampire. When the blood-coven decides that Magnus needs a blood mate to be his co-ruler, Sunny's humanity puts her out of the running. The coven's candidate is Jane Johnson, a magna cum laude graduate of Oxford University who just happens to look like a vampiric celebutante. Sunny is supicious of the Rhodes scholar who can't even answer the most basic poly-sci questions, but Magnus brushes it off as petty jealousy. Still when the blood coven travels to Las Vegas for a vampire convention-Where Magnus and Jane's bonding will be the main event-Sunny and her sister Rayne secretly tag along for the bonding. And Sunny's not going home until she finds out the truth and Jane. Because not everything stays in Vegas-especially not bad blood.

Night School

After their parents' shocking revelation about their fae heritage and an attack on their lives, the McDonald twins find themselves on the run—forced to hide out at Riverdale Academy , a boarding school for vampire slayers, deep in the Swiss Alps. With no cells, no internet, and no way to contact their vampire boyfriends—the twins are on their own.

Being a vampire stuck in a school full of slayers isn't easy. Especially with no blood substitute stocked on campus. Soon Rayne finds herself succumbing to her bloodlust and losing control—especially around the arrogant, but devastatingly handsome Corbin Billingsworth the Third—who isn't sure whether he wants to kiss her...or kill her.

Blood Ties

Officially back in the arms of her vampire boyfriend Magnus, Sunny finds she still can't forget- the gentle mortal Jayden who once saved her life. Main characters

• Rayne McDonald –

Rayne McDonald is Sunny's identical twin sister. Unlike Sunny though Rayne is goth and loves the darker side of life. Rayne also loves to dress in black and hang out at the local goth club, " Club Fang'. Her life dream is to become an vampire and have vast power and riches at her fingertips. Unfortunately destiny had something else in plan and she became a vampire slayer in the second book but later at the end of book two, she also becomes a vampire so she is a vamipre-slaying-vampire. She is 5'4 and she dyes her blond hair black because she is tired of being mistaken as her twin sister Sunny. She also has brown eyes. At the end of book two Jareth, a brooding vampire falls in love with Rayne and later when Rayne is going to die from a blood illness Jareth turns her into a vampire so they can be together. That also means that they are blood mates.

• Sunshine McDonald –

Is known as " Sunny " she loves field hockey, kissing cute boys, drama, and vacationing in the Carbbiean. Her life's dream is said to grow up and go to college, get married, and become and Emmy winning writer. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she gets mistaken for Rayne in Boys That Bite. She gets bitten by Magnus and is almost turned into a vampire. To stop it she and Magnus travel to England to retrieve the Holy Grail, which is the only thing that will change her back. On the trip there she and Magnus fall in love and reverse the transformation so Sunny is not turned into a vampire. She is 5'4, dirty blonde, and has brown eyes. She is deeply in love with a vampire named Magnus, and has an identical twin named Rayne.

• Magnus –

Magnus is a former Knight of the Round Table for King Arthur. Magnus was captured on a quest to find the Holy Grail though and is left to die in Middle Eastern prison. Fortunately the vampire Lucifent came along and resuced him, turning Magnus into a vampire. Lucifent got slayed in the first book though and so now Magnus has become the coven master. Magnus tells Sunny that "Even if we're not blood mates, you are my soul mate" showing how he cares. Magnus is 6'0,has long chesnut brown hair, is the coven master, is in love with Sunshine "Sunny" McDonald, and has blue eyes.

• Jareth –

Jareth is a dark and brooding vampire who looks like a cross between Jude Law and David Bowie. His blood mate is Rayne McDonald. He fell in love with her, so when she was dying, he turned her into a vampire causing them to become blood mates. Jareth serves as a general in the blood coven army. Beautiful, mysterious, powerful and brooding he is quick tempered, espesially when someone (Rayne) pushes his buttons. Jareth doesn't like to reveal a lot about his tragic past. He had sworn he would never take a blood mate but that was before he fell in love with Rayne. Jareth is 6'1, has short blonde hair, and green eyes.

Setting

The books mostly take place in The United States but some of the books take place in the United States and England at the Blood-Coven headquarters.

Future books

The next book Blood Ties is said to come out on August 2, 2011 via Mari Mancusi.com It also says that the next to books are said to come out in the year of 2012.
