Category:Collected editions of classical composers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Collected editions of classical composers are notable editions of the works of composers of classical music, aiming at the presentation of the complete output of a specific composer. They are not editions of single works, but are multi-volume publications intended to make available all the known output of the particular composer for whom each is named.

Most of these prepared in modern times have been scholarly, critical editions that attempt to establish a reliable and definitive text of each work--for example, the volumes published in the Neue Mozart-Ausgabe. There have also been distinguished editions that predate the 20th century, such as that published by the Bach Gesellschaft.

Some notable editions have been projected but were never completed, such as the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Edition.
