This category is for American football coaches who coached for the University of Detroit Mercy. The football program predates the women's (later co-ed) "Mercy College of Detroit" founded in 1941, and ceases prior to the 1990 merger which creates "University of Detroit Mercy." As such, the football team of this era retains the historical name (without the "Mercy"); this is the only sport that is the exception the school's other sports teams' naming convention.
