Volcanic eruptions that rated 2 on the Volcanic Explosivity Index. Such eruptions release a tephra volume of at least 0.001 km3 (0.00024 cu mi) with noticeable effects on the surrounding area.

For smaller volcanic eruptions that have produced less than 0.001 km3 (0.00024 cu mi) of tephra at a time, see Category:VEI-1 eruptions.
